Euro 2016: Tyson Fury cheers for Iceland after failing to drown his sorrows following England’s humiliating exit to minnows
The 27-year-old world heavyweight boxing champion went on a bar crawl in Nice in the early hours after leaving his England shirt in his hotel room before partying with Scandinavians
PASSIONATE England fan Tyson Fury ended up cheering for Iceland last night – as he unsuccessfully tried to drown his sorrows following England's exit from Euro 2016.
The 27-year-old world heavyweight boxing champion went on a bar crawl in Nice in the early hours.
He chanted: "Our Defence is Terrified – Iceland’s on fire," as he left his England shirt back in his hotel room, instead sporting a New York City baseball cap.
"We have the best fans in the world, and none of us deserved that," said Fury, as he spent most of the night walking rather than drinking.
Clearly devastated by England 2-1 defeat to Iceland in the last 16 of the European football championships on Monday night, Tyson found it almost impossible to get a drink.
"All the bars are shutting, so we won’t be having much," he joked, after finding yet another bar shut because of a security clampdown by the French authorities.
It was a far cry from Sunday night, when the Gypsy King had spent more than £800 buying drinks for his fellow England supporters.
Then, he was wearing his Three Lions top with pride, and suggesting that England could easily beat the Icelander minnows 10-0.
Tyson had bought 200 Jagerbombs – a shot of Jagermeister in a glass of Red Bull or other energy drink.
"This is how much I love my fans, euro 2016, 200 jager bombs, for the fans," he wrote on Twitter, alongside a photo of the receipt.
This time Fury settled for a modest mixer drink in a plastic glass, picking it up in the Lounge Bar, close to the Promenade des Anglais, just after 1am.
Loyal fans meanwhile chanted: "Our Defence is Terrified, and Fury’s on Fire."
