18.19 Willis and Beranakis trade serve games to leave the Brit 4-3 up in a potentially decisive third set. Meanwhile tennis icon Roger Federer has strolled out onto Centre Court. Live coverage will stick with Willis, to highlight how big an achievement this would be.
18.09 Marcus Willis secures the first break of the third set to leave him on the verge of the second round. The British No23 has vocal support on the outside courts which can be heard across SW19.

4.58 Court No 4 closed for the day as Denis Istomin came pulls off a 4-6, 6-7(13), 6-4, 7-6(2), 6-3 win over 20th seed Kevin Anderson. No more play on Court 14, either, after Alize Cornet completed a 6-3, 6-0 win over Polona Hercog...and the covers came on.
4.56 On Court No 3 where Naomi Broady is 4-1 down to Elina Svitolina. 3.57 Brit Brydan Klein, ranked 185th in the world, is two sets down against Frenchman Nicolas Mahut on Court No 17. Klein switched allegiance to Britain in 2013 from Australia. He partners Alex Ward in the doubles.

3.30 Another Ward, British wildcard Alex Ward is playing David Goffin of Belgium on court three. The 11th seed won the first set 6-2,
3.25 Djokovic on his win: "The first nine games, my game was flawless. I felt great. The nerves just kicked in for James but he started playing better. It was a very solid performance and a wonderful experience to come to this cradle of our sport."
3.15 James Ward's Wimbledon singles battle has lasted 2hrs 2mins. He follows fellow Brit Kyle Edmund out of the tournament. Almost inevitably the Davis Cup player concedes defeat in straight sets to defending champ Novak Djokovic 6-0, 7-6 (3), 6-4.

2.47 Ana Ivanovic is in trouble against qualifier Ekaterina Alexandrova, who leads by a set and a break against the former world No.1.
2.40 Tough luck in that second set for Ward. It was a matter of important points when he made a couple of fatal mistakes.

2.33 Ward battles his way to deuce on the Djokovic serve and brings up three break points, which would leave him serving for the second set... but no. Djokovic holds, and the Brit will be serving for a tie-break.

2.16 Ward now 5-5 in the second after dragging it back from 3-0 down. The Brit has hit fives aces and produced some real moments of quality against one of the greatest sportsmen on the planet.
2.08 After making a mockery of Ward in the first set, Djokovic has been pegged back by the plucky Brit who has given a much better account of himself in the second. A booming serve has got him out of trouble a handful of times and some clever net play won him the first point of the ninth game.
2.02 Five-time champ Venus Williams has made some unusual unforced errors against Donna Vekic. If the American finds her flow she'll cruise through. But she also has a heavy strapping on her left thigh that might be a concern in latter rounds against tougher tests.
1.54 James Ward is actually off the mark in the second set but Novak Djovkovch leads 6-0, 3-1.
1.45 Ninth seed Marin Cilic is up and running with a 6-3, 7-5, 6-3 win over American Brian Baker. Cilic has gone all the way to the last eight at the last two Championships. But there is an upset on Court No 16 with German Philip Kohlschreiber, seeded 21, has been ousted by France's Pierre-Hugues Herbert 7-5, 3-6, 3-6, 6-3.
1.39 Goes without saying that it doesn't look good for James Ward. The lowest-ranked player Novak Djokovic has lost to at a Grand Slam is No. 75 Marat Safin in the second round at Wimbledon in 2008. Ward is currently 177 in the world and has lost the first set 6-0.
1.32 Gallant Brit Kyle Edmund being given the runaround on Court No 2 Adrian Mannarino. Sadly it's 2-6, 5-7, 0-2
1.30 On Court No 1 Venus Williams - a five time winner at SW19 - is in the early stages of her match against Croatian Donna Vekic. This is the first time the players have met and it's on serve at 1-1.
1.25 Who has the fastest serve at Wimbledon? Surely French qualifier Albano Olivetti, who stands an imposing 6ft 8ins and weighs in at over 16 stone...and holds the record for the second fastest tennis serve of all time – 160mph. He's up against Aussie Matthew Barton tomorrow.
1.17 The first man through is Ukraine's Sergiy Stakhovsky, a comfortable 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 winner against qualifier Yoshihito Nishikora.
1.15 Sam Stosur, the 124th seed, is safely through to the second round as the popular Australian scores a 7-6, 6-3 win against Poland's Magda Linnette. Jana Cepelova, who came through qualifying and has followed that up with a 7-5, 7-5 win against Mariana Duque-Marino.
1.10 Novak Djokovic and James Ward underway on Centre Court. Ward has been part of a successful British Davis Cup winning team, so fingers crossed. Pippa's in her seat.
1.05 For those going to Wimbledon, here's what to spend your money on. £6.20 for a glass of Pimms; £8.30 for a large one
12.53 Second German win on the board as Carina Witthoeft completes a 6-1, 6-4 win over Romania's 25th seed Irina-Camelia Begu to make second round of Wimbledon for the first time. 12.49 Pumps and kisses to the crowd from Sabine Lisicki, who is very pleased to get her Wimbledon campaign up and running with a 6-1, 6-3 win over American Shelby Rogers.
12.37 Oh no. Edmund has now been broken in the second set.
12.20 Ivo Karlovic has won a titanic first set tie-break 10-8 against fellow Croat Borna Coric.
12.11 Kyle Edmund goes a set down to Adrian Mannarino, but he's got plenty of support on Court No 2.
12.10 Pippa Middleton arrives. She's a guest in the Royal Box today.
12.05 Word has it that defending champ Novak Jokovic has been banned from riding his bike in the All England Club grounds after a near miss with a supply vehicle. The Serbian superstar, who starts the defence of his crown against Britain’s James Ward on Centre Court, narrowly avoided crashing into the vehicle last week.
11.10 A new Australian Open champion is also on the scene. But Angelique Kerber, who faces GB's Laura Robson in the final match on No.1 Court, has been knocked out of the first round in five tournaments. But asked how she prepared she was for Wimbledon on a scale of 1-10, she smiled and said "11".
10.59 Djokovic arrives at SW19 as French Open champion for the first time, one of 65 career titles. Arriving at Wimbledon, Djokovic says it still feels like the first time, too.
"Even though I've been very blessed to achieve this childhood dream and win this tournament three times, I still feel that kind of excitement as if I'm coming in for the first time."
10.40 Look who's bagged a spot in the Royal Box. Official list reveals Pippa Middleton will be there today.
10.35 Not that any rain will affect reigning champion Djokovic, who begins his defence of the men's title on the Centre Court at 1pm - under the roof if necessary.
10.30 Weather watch - and it shouldn't be too bad. A decent temperature of 18 degrees is forecast with outbreaks of sunshine!
10.20 One hair-raising fan obviously loves Wimbledon...
10.10 Talk naturally centres around world No 2 Andy Murray, who was Wimbledon champ in 2013. But he's not in action until tomorrow against fellow Brit Liam Broady. But there are other 14 local hopefuls hellbent on making their mark at the grasscourt grand slam.
However...wildcard James Ward might not last long either, having drawn world World No 1 Novak Djokovic.
Elsewhere, British No 1 Johanna Konta has been seeded 16th, while Heather Watson and Naomi Broady are in also in the women's main draw.
10.00am Fans who have been queuing all night - some even longer - get the all-clear to actually mover towards the hallowed Wimbledon gates. Play begins at 11.30am on the outside courts - 1.0pm on Centre Court and Court No 1 - and spirits are running high.
