Black Cats table £11million bid for Roma frontman with Sam Allardyce keen on a big target man to bang in the goals alongside Jermain Defoe

SUNDERLAND will need to improve on their £11milion bid if they want to bring former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko back to the Premier League.

The 30-year-old Bosnian international currently plays for Roma and the Serie A club want £15million for him, according to Sky Sport Italia.

Dzeko, whose goals helped City to two Premier League titles, has failed to fire since joining Roma on a permanent basis last October following a loan spell.

He scored only eight league goals in 31 games as Roma finished third.

Dzeko also scored twice in seven Champions League appearances.

Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce is looking to add more firepower to his squad at the Stadium of Light with Jermain Defoe is the only orthodox frontman currently on the books.

The Blacks Cats are already understood to have offered £11m for West Ham’s Senegalese international striker Diafra Sakho, someone Allardyce signed while he was in charge at the Hammers.
