Man Utd ‘nearing’ £23m Sergio Reguilon transfer but fighting Real Madrid over buy-back clause for defender

MANCHESTER United are "nearing" a £23 million swoop on Sergio Reguilon - but they are fighting Real Madrid over a buy-back clause, according to reports.

Talks are ongoing between the two clubs over the defender moving to Old Trafford but this is reportedly the major stumbling block.

report that the Manchester club want to buy him outright with no strings attached from Real Madrid.

But the La Liga champions are hoping to have a buyback option after one or two seasons in case the full-back blossoms in the Premier League.

Reguilon has impressed after a tremendous season on loan at Sevilla and has been closely linked with the Red Devils all season.

Madrid are reportedly open to him moving away due to Marcelo and Ferland Mendy being ahead of him in the pecking order.

But their attempts to add a buy back clause suggests they expect him to grow as a player.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's hopes of landing him appear to have taken a blow after reports emerged that Reguilon was more keen on a move back to Sevilla.

But that move could be torpedoed if Sevilla land Marcus Acuna from Sporting, who would serve as his replacement.

Reguilon is believed to welcome an approach from Manchester United in any case.

If the club did secure him, it would be Man United's second major signing of the window following Donny van der Beek.

They have been linked to many other players including Jadon Sancho.
