Joshua planned to face Pulev on December 12 at o2 with Fury vs Wilder trilogy week later setting up Brit fight for 2021
ANTHONY JOSHUA will reportedly fight Kubrat Pulev on December 12 with Tyson Fury having his trilogy fight against Deontay Wilder the following weekend.
That would set up the all-British undisputed heavyweight scrap between the pair – provided they come through their respective title defences.
Back at the start of coronavirus lockdown, Fury announced that he had agreed two fights against WBA, WBC and IBF champ Joshua for 2021.
But the nitty-gritty of finances and dates are still a long way from being sorted.
According to , the two Brits could get their mandatories out of the way before this year is out, clearing the path for their moutwatering scrap.
Matchroom boss and AJ’s promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed the December 12 date at the o2 Arena, adding that he was keeping everything crossed that some fans would be allowed in.
And Pulev’s co-promoter John Wirt of Epic Sports added: “We are happy that the fight appears to be back on track and that we have a new date and site.
“There is still some tweaking to do on the contract but we are optimistic it should be concluded this week.”
And with reporting that Fury vs Wilder III should follow on December 19, boxing fans can look forward to the prospect of the all-British showdown for next year.
Appearing on BT Sport as a special studio guest at the weekend for Daniel Dubois’ easy win against Ricardo Snijders, Fury is desperate for the fight.
He said: “If Wilder doesn’t happen, let’s do Joshua in December. Let’s get it on. I’m ready to go now, I’d have fought him in that ring tonight.
“I’d still kick his a***, any time of the day. Hopefully they grow a pair and want to fight the Gypsy King.
“If I was in their position, I’d have had my chance at glory to go to America and fight Wilder.
“But they didn’t take it and I had to come out of retirement, set about him a couple of times – take the No1 spot, take all the glory.
“He must be sitting down thinking ‘that could have been me’. But it wasn’t. It’s their own fault.
“Grow a pair, come see the champ, and I’ll sort you all out. I’m just waiting here patiently.
“No fights on the horizon, training like a lunatic, running up mountains, I’ve become a human racehorse.
“I’m looking forward to all challenges, whatever they are bring them to the Gypsy King and I’ll deal with them, in exciting fashion.”
