MMA fighter Kimbo Slice dies aged 42 after being rushed to hospital in South Miami

The street fighter, real name Kevin Ferguson, was admitted to hospital on Monday night but police suspect no foul play

POPULAR MMA fighter Kimbo Slice has died aged 42.

The street fighter, real name Kevin Ferguson, was admitted to hospital in South Miami on Monday night but as yet no reason for his death has been released.

Rising to fame on the back of his YouTube street fighting videos, Slice signed up to UFC in 2009 but lost his first bout to Roy Nelson.

He switched to Bellator MMA last year his but had his fighting licence revoked in Texas after testing positive for steroids.

Bellator president Scott Coker expressed his shock an the fighter's death through a statement.

"One of the most popular MMA fighters ever, Kimbo was a charismatic, larger-than-life personality that transcended the sport.

Slice - who leaves behind six children and long-time girlfriend Antionette Ray - was due to fight James Thompson in London next month.

Police suspect no foul play in his death.
