Andre Gomes to Manchester United: Valencia midfielder hands club big boost after praising ‘great’ Jose Mourinho
MANCHESTER UNITED target Andre Gomes has handed the club a massive boost in their chase for the Valencia midfielder.
United have been linked with a £30million move for the 22-year-old midfielder.
Gomes was asked about the speculation and rather than dismiss it completely he revealed he is a huge fan of new manager Jose Mourinho.
He told the Portuguese press: “Mourinho is a great coach, there is no doubt about that, but for now my future is left to one side.
“I am not at all concerned with what will happen after the European Championship, I look forward to the tournament starting.”
Gomes, who has won seven caps for Portugual, is seen by Valencia as unsellable but Mourinho is believed to be hugely keen on the midfielder.
Standing at 6ft 2in, Gomes was a key player at Valencia last season, starting 41 matches in all competitions, scoring five goals and adding four assists.
He is a powerful runner who can also play on the left wing or behind the striker.
Manchester United have been linked with numerous targets this summer as former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho attempts to rebuild a squad that finished fifth last season.
