Euro 2016: Joe Ledley wins race to be fit for Wales after breaking leg

JOE LEDLEY has won his race to be fit for Wales at the Euros.
The Crystal Palace midfielder broke his leg on May 7 but is in line to be
named in Chris Coleman’s 23-man squad on Tuesday.
Ledley, 29, convinced Coleman and Wales’ medical staff during Wales’ five-day
training camp in Portugal last week that he is on course to complete a
remarkable recovery from injury.
And, unless there is a last minute change of heart, Ledley will be selected
for the finals in France.
It is an incredible comeback from the 62-cap ace, who sustained a hairline
fracture of his left fibula following a challenge from Stoke’s Charlie Adam
just 23 days ago.
Ledley’s return is a major boost for Coleman and Wales, who face England,
Slovakia and Russia in Group B.
He is pencilled in to figure at some point in the group stage and even if his
rehab takes a setback then Wales have until their opening game against the
Slovaks in Bordeaux on June 11 to make a change with Uefa as long as they
provide a medical certificate.
Gareth Bale, fresh from winning the Champions League for the second time with
Real Madrid, and his international team-mates join up as a squad in Cardiff
on Tuesday night.
Prior to that, Coleman officially names his 23-man party at 2.30pm and his
toughest call is to decide between Birmingham wideman David Cotterill, 28,
and Fulham livewire George Williams, 20.
