The Gunners No1 injured knee ligaments in the club's 2-1 defeat to the Seagulls on the south coast.

He appeared to twist his knee in an incident with eventual matchwinner Neal Maupay at the Amex.

Leno was stretchered off the field but found time to launch a verbal tirade at Maupay.

Initial fears were that he could be out for a year but they turned out to be wide of the mark.

Leno is nearing a return after four weeks on the sidelines.

The 28-year-old will be anxious to reclaim his spot after the good form of his deputy Emiliano Martinez.

Long-time No2 Martinez, 27, has made the most of his run in the team, impressing onlookers with his stellar performances in the Arsenal goal.

The reserve keeper has outshone Leno in every department - according to the stats.

Martinez's save percentage is a sky-high 81.8, compared to Leno's 74.2.

And his form has certainly given boss Mikel Arteta food for thought - with the Spaniard even saying he's "earned his place".

But Leno is very unlikely to be fit enough to take to the field at Wembley on Saturday with Martinez set to continue between the sticks.
