Dortmund reportedly told United to seal the £108m transfer by August 10 or the deal is off.

But the Germans are keeping tabs on other players they would sign to replace him just in case, according to chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke.

He told Kicker: "If Jadon left, we would do something again in the offensive area.

";There are certainly one or two players we are targeting.

The Bundesliga side are not willing to get embroiled in a transfer circus throughout the summer after slapping a £108m price-tag on the winger.

Dortmund also feel constant speculation regarding their key player could have a negative impact on the squad.

It is reported in Germany that Sancho has already agreed personal terms with United and a fee between the two clubs remains the only stumbling block.

Former City starlet Sancho is expected to sign a five-year deal in the red half of Manchester worth a lucrative £140,000-a-week.

That is then likely to increase to £200,000-a-week over the course of his deal.

Elsewhere, Dortmund think they have beaten United to the signing of Birmingham whizkid Jude Bellingham, 16.
