Arsenal have been negotiating with Borussia Monchengladbach for months now over a transfer for the £25million midfielder.

Xhaka underwent a medical at the Emirates yesterday and the club expected him to sign at the club within 72 hours.

Manchester City were also in the hunt for Bundesliga ace but the pictures, tweeted by user Valon Demiri, imply they have missed out on their target.

Xhaka recently claimed he wished to have his future sorted before Euro 2016 kicks off.

Xhaka said: “I would like to know before the European Championship, where I play next year. I do not know if there is an offer.”

“I do not know if there is an offer. I’ve had four beautiful years at Monchengladbach and owe the club a lot. If it is true what the media write, we sit down together and decide.”
