But her decision to chow down on his salmon and rice backfired when she was left in a cold sweat.

In a video posted to messaging app Snapchat, American Serena showed a gourmet menu of doggy grub ranging from £12-£15 a dish.

She explains to the camera: “On the doggy menu it has soup and all this other good stuff. So I’m like, ‘I might want to taste the food’.

“So I ordered him the salmon and rice because I thought ‘I eat salmon’.

“Before you judge me, look at it. That’s the salmon and rice - it’s kind of mixed together, right?”

Panning the camera towards Chip’s dinner, she continues: “I thought, ‘What the heck, I’m going to try a piece. It looks good.’ So I ate a spoonful. Don’t judge me. I ate a spoonful.”

Things went from bad to worse for the 21-time Grand Slam champ as she posted another snap half an hour later looking visibly ill.

She continued: “Let’s fast forward to two hours. I just ran to the toilet like I thought I was gonna pass out!

“I mean, it did taste weird, I force-swallowed it. It tasted a little bit like a house cleaner kind of thing. I don’t know what they put in this dog food, but Chip liked it and it looked good.

“I really don’t feel so good. Oh no.”

The 34-year-old will be hoping she feels a little better in time for the French Open, which begins on 22 May.

She advanced to the third-round of the Rome Open on Tuesday after overcoming Anna-Lena Friedsam 6-4 6-3.
