Manchester United transfer news: Red Devils target Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
FA Cup finalists plotting shock summer raid for out of favour Gunners star to bolster Old Trafford attack, according to reports
ALEX OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN has emerged as a shock summer transfer target for Manchester United, according to reports.
ESPN claim that a “source close to the player” has informed them that the Red Devils have targeted the Arsenal wide man.
Liverpool and Southampton have also been linked with a move for the 22-year-old England international.
The winger has not played for the Gunners since February after he was forced off through injury in the second half of the Champions League defeat against Barcelona.
During his absence, Alex Iwobi has burst onto the scene at the Emirates Stadium, and the Nigerian youngster has repaid Arsene Wenger’s faith by producing a number of dazzling displays.
And it appears that the Gunners are prepared to cash in on the Ox with a ready-made replacement already at the club, say ESPN.
They reported: “United have made a new winger one of their top summer transfer priorities this summer and a source close to Oxlade-Chamberlain’s camp has told ESPN FC that the Old Trafford club have asked to be kept informed of the player’s situation this summer.
“The Ox is under contract at Arsenal until 2018.”
