Could Manchester City’s Joe Hart be England’s great hope for Euro 2016 success?

JOE HART has emerged as England’s great hope this summer after he secured a treble of superstar spot shut-outs on Wednesday.

The Manchester City goalkeeper’s save from Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the 2-2 draw with PSG secured a hat-trick of penalties stops for the 28-year-old.

Joe Hart showed he's got the ability to be truly world class by keeping out Zlatan Ibrahimovic

The Swedish striker became the latest big name to be denied from 12 yards by Hart, joining Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and Brazil legend Ronaldinho.

With his record against the greats of the game, few could forgive England fans for having renewed hope should Roy Hodgson’s men find themselves in the dreaded shoot-out scenario at the Euros this summer.

The Three Lions have been eliminated on penalties SIX times from major tournaments since their first spot-kick defeat to Germany at the 1990 World Cup semi-final.

But with Hart in net and his CV of stops, few would back against him securing only the second shoot-out victory in the country’s history.

And it is not only saving them that Hart is good at¿ He is more than able to step-up and fire home himself.

Although it was only a friendly, Hart stepped-up in the pre-season against Roma to rifle home an unstoppable strike against Roma from the penalty spot.

Former world player of the year Ronaldinho was the first victim of Hart. The goalie produced a fantastic save to deny him during England’s 2-1 win over the Samba Boys at Wembley in February 2013.

Then it was the turn of Messi last March – the Argentine denied during a Champions League clash in February last year.

And now Ibrahimovic has joined the club yesterday evening.

Of course, Hart has already been on the losing side once for England. He was unable to prevent them slipping to a shoot-out defeat against Italy at Euro 2012, where he was famously beaten by Andrea Pirlo’s dink.
