On Friday, May 8 — the 75th anniversary of when the  Second World War was won in Europe — the family were casually digging in the garden when they discovered a strange buried object.

And police soon ordered everybody in the street to move to a safe distance.

Williams, who turned 21 last Tuesday, told SunSport: “It was hilarious.

“My dad was chipping away by the patio. He kept clunking metal, thinking ‘this isn’t right’.

“There was a metal cross poking out of the ground. It was in an area where there would be no fence post.

“So we called an officer to have a look. He said it didn’t look right. He made the decision to evacuate the street!

“You couldn’t write it,  honestly. The whole street was out celebrating. It was scary to start with. There was a  big panic.

“We had to get the dogs and pack our bags quickly.

“Then five or six police cars came and shut the road for about an hour-and-a-half.

“It ended up being a fence post! Thankfully people saw the funny side of it.

“I ordered a Chinese when we got home and relaxed!”

Williams — one of  SunSport’s stars to watch before the Tokyo Olympics — has transformed a section of her parents’ home into a training area, with weights and kicking equipment.

A couple of ornaments, however, have paid the price.

Williams laughed: “I’ve ruined a few of them already. My mum isn’t too pleased.

“I’ve smashed them. We have a wooden floor in that room and every time I kick, the mat slides and knocks them over by mistake.”
