BRUNO FERNANDES has revealed the reasons for his scintillating start at Manchester United - the supporters, the stadium and the colour of the SHORTS.

The Portuguese ace has certainly put some fizz back into the football at Old Trafford since his £55million move from Sporting Lisbon.

Before the coronavirus crisis KO’d this season indefinitely, United were on an 11-match unbeaten run in all competitions and up to fifth spot in the Premier League, pushing for a Champions League place.

They have looked like a completely different team since the January transfer window, having signed the midfield maestro for what is already looking like a bargain sum.

The Portuguese ace has made nine appearances, provided four assists and scored three — including two penalties, and is yet to taste defeat.

When asked about the reasons behind his scintillating start, the midfielder told the : "It is difficult to say one thing because at Manchester United, going out at Old Trafford, everybody knows about the stadium and the atmosphere,

"But when you have the kit of Manchester United, all red, with your black shorts, and you feel the atmosphere of the stadium, and you feel everything, you feel the support of your fans, it is something special.

"For me, for example, when I came from Sporting, I arrived and I was in Manchester for two days. I played against Wolves and they already had a song for me.

"I had just arrived and the supporters already gave me the support I need to be confident and be at home.

"I think this is the most important thing, that atmosphere and love you feel from your supporters."

Fernandes’ hallmark has been making late runs into the box to get on the end of cutbacks from forward players.

But he's also an effective playmaker too – among the top-15 per-game chance creators.

Not only that, he is also proving to be one of the toughest tacklers in any Premier League midfield, proving he is an outstanding allrounder.

Skipper Harry Maguire has been dazzled by Fernandes' impact in midfield and reckons the former Sporting Lisbon man is so good that he could resurrect Paul Pogba's career.

The Frenchman is yet to link up with the Red Devils newbie due to the ankle injury which has sidelined him for the majority of the season.

But on-loan star Odion Ighalo believes the Old Trafford side "will be great again" when the pair unite.

Pog is set to be fit when the Premier League returns and Fernandes is relishing the chance to line up alongside him.

Earlier this month he said: "I know Paul from Juve, because I played against him in Italy. And believe me, it’s really hard to play against Paul,

"Because I play in midfield, I mark him. We play in the same line, so it’s really difficult to play against Paul, because he has power, he has technique.

"It’s difficult to find a player like Paul, big, strong and technical. It’s difficult to find a player like this, and he has a lot of qualities. I hope he comes [back] soon."

Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly hoping to convince Pog to shun a move to Real Madrid as he wants him to form a partnership with the Portuguese star in the middle.
