Real Madrid midfielder Kroos, 30, recently revealed that a deal for him to move to Manchester United had “basically been done” before Louis van Gaal replaced David Moyes in 2014 and scuppered the transfer.
The German midfielder did not receive a update from United over the new manager’s plans due to van Gaal still managing the Netherlands side heading into the 2014 World Cup.
Former Old Trafford boss David Moyes claimed he met Kroos and the deal was agreed for him to join them.
But the midfielder remained at Bayern Munich before he was snapped up by Madrid the same year he secured a World Cup winners medal in Brazil.
