BDO darts world champion Wayne Warren still doesn’t know how much money he’s won after prize fund is slashed
WAYNE WARREN still doesn’t know what prize money he will receive for becoming BDO World Darts champion.
Last year Glen Durrant received £100,000 for winning the worlds but the winner's cheque has been slashed this time, sparking fury from Andy Hamilton among others.
Warren, 57, reckons he will have to return to roofing in the Rhondda and might give PDC Q School a miss until 2021.
The oldest darts world champion said: “Don’t get me wrong I’m absolutely devastated I haven’t got the £100,000 – it’s gutting.
“We knew we weren’t going to get that before the tournament because we had the email before it started.
“We knew there was going to be a prize cut but it didn’t say how much.
“I had to concentrate on the tournament and not get involved in the figures. That’s not my job.
“That’s what my management is there for, they have to sort it out especially because I won. They also have missed out as well, they get part of the cut for it as well.”
And he said becoming world champion doesn't mean he can cut down on the day job.

Warren said: "I would have said so but I can’t stop working.
"But my workload will have to be cut down a bit because I’ll have to concentrate on this now for this 12 months while I am world champion.
“The management team I’ve got will sort all that out."
