HOT-HEADED Gerwyn Price has apologised to Peter Wright for not shaking his hand and his "OTT" behaviour.

The fiery Welshman was branded a “bully” for storming off without trying to congratulate Wright after his 6-3 semi-final defeat at the William Hill PDC World Darts Championship.

Footage emerged online of Price almost hitting Wright with a dart during a practice throw after a TV ad break.

Before the match, the pair had joked backstage about potential 6-0 drubbings.

The tension continued when Wright took the first set and made a point of telling Price on-stage it would not be a whitewash.

The Iceman responded by wildly celebrating in Wright’s direction after winning the second set.

In his first online message, which he has since deleted, the No.3 seed labelled the Scot “out of order”, saying banter during match is unacceptable.

Yet after a period of cooling down, a more considered Price wrote on Twitter: “I’ve had time to reflect and personally I’m peed off with myself.

“I let myself, my fans and family down in the biggest game of my career and for letting Peter get to me.

“I over-reacted to what Peter did after set one. It might have been banter but I was so in the zone and just missed a lot of set darts.

“I wasn’t ready for what he did. I will learn and everyone makes mistakes.

“But I’m still new to this and still learning.

“I apologise to everyone who thinks I’ve done wrong and maybe I was a bit OTT.

“It’s a difficult place up on that stage and sometimes emotions get the better of you.

“I also apologise for not shaking his hand. It’s not a rule, but should have bit my tongue, done it, and walked off.

“I have personally apologised to Peter for my reactions.”
