Tyson Fury slams BBC Sports Personality of the Year as a FIX for not being nominated despite historic 12 months
TYSON Fury has labelled the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards a FIX after he failed to make the six-person shortlist.
The Gypsy King - who headlined in Las Vegas twice this year as well as appearing in WWE - has taken to Twitter to state all the reasons why he should have been nominated.
As well as his outings in the squared circle, the 31-year-old also teamed up with Robbie Williams to record a Christmas song, while he also went on a 21-day UK tour where he openly discussed his mental health problems.
Taking to social media, the unbeaten heavyweight said: "This year, 2 defences of the lineal title in Vegas, WWE fight in Arabia, Best selling autobiography, Christmas single with Robbie & ITV documentary, And mental health tour.
"What sports personality has done more this year??? And I won’t get a mention, it’s a fix!!!"
No boxer was named on the shortlist, with Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling, six-time world Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton and England's Cricket World Cup-winning hero Ben Stokes nominated.
Completing the list is Welsh rugby star Alun Wyn Jones, world heptathlon champ Katrina Johnson-Thompson and Dina Asher-Smith - who picked up three medals at the World Athletics Championship.
Fury - who is expected to face Deontay Wilder in a rematch for the WBC title on February 22 - has revealed he is open to fighting in the Octagon in the future, inlcuding current UFC champ Stipe Miocic.
Speaking on the , he said: "I've got three fights on my boxing contract, when they are up I'm coming for every UFC heavyweight there is.”
He added: "Stipe, he can't box, it wouldn't be a boxing contest, but in that world I'd be intrigued to see if he can take what I can put out, for sure.
