Punter loses £24,500 on Logan Paul to beat KSI after Brit’s dramatic LA win in controversial style
ONE punter lost a staggering £24,500 after Logan Paul lost his showdown with KSI.
The mammoth bet was placed on the American to see off his YouTube rival in their pro boxing debut in Los Angeles.
But the shock victory for Watford-born KSI - thanks to a split decision at the Staples Center - ensured the ambitious gambler was left counting the cost.
The $30k bet, placed with Golden Gate Hotel & Casino, would only have returned $46,666.65 due to Paul being the odds-on favourite.
But KSI upset the bookies with a deserved victory after six crazy, entertaining round.
He edged it with judges scores of 56-55 and 57-54 for him and 56-55 for Paul after the American was docked two points for illegal hits when he had got KSI down.
After doing the sums, Paul said: “Fair play to JJ – you are one of the toughest people I know, you deserve everything you have.
“I wish you the best. You had my respect before the fight, you are one of the toughest people I know. I don't like talking trash, it was all for show, it was all to sell the fight. I have nothing but respect.
“I was more calm this year and spent more time practising boxing, we worked on my conditioning, that was why I was better than the first fight.
“I think the two-point deduction was harsh, I am not happy with the commission about that, I think if you do the math that cost me the fight.”
Paul - who was backed by Justin Bieber - vowed to appeal the decision after the controversial points deduction.
Brit KSI was the far more attacking, especially early on as he swung plenty of big hooks - although few actually landed.
And he said: “I have that dog in me and I don’t stop, he hit me with illegal shots, it was outrageous.
"But I do not stop. I have shut him up. Your boy is happy, victorious, happy days.
“I need to thank my team Viddal Riley, Leon Wills, Larry Wade, Jeff Mayweather. I did it, I was victorious.
