Ex-Arsenal ace Danny Welbeck injured after just 55 SECONDS for Watford at Tottenham… and fans aren’t surprised
DANNY WELBECK got injured against Tottenham after 55 seconds - and fans are not surprised.
The English forward was making just his third league start for the Hornets since joining on a free from Arsenal this summer.
And with a chance to score against London rivals Spurs it looked like the perfect game for the 28-year-old to remind fans of his scoring ability.
But that just wasn’t to be as Welbeck was taken off after three minute as he went down off the ball, with no one around him.
The former Manchester United and England star was replaced by winger Gerard Deulofeu.
And after missing the last six months of last season with an ankle injury, fans are not surprised by his latest career setback.
One said: "Can Danny Welbeck ever play 60 seconds of football without getting injured? Worst is that the injury comes without body contact from another player."
Another added: "Perhaps, just perhaps, Danny Welbeck should just retire."
Another added: "Huge shock at Tottenham as it has taken Danny Welbeck 2 minutes to be forced off injured."
It’s Welbeck’s 12th injury in his Premier League career, following 41 games missed last term.
Despite the early casualty Watford took the lead five minutes later thanks to Abdoulaye Doucoure.
Full-back Daryl Janmaat whipped in a cross after beating Danny Rose with Doucoure on hand to tap home.
