Man Utd’s Greenwood, Chelsea ace Hudson-Odoi and Arsenal trio in England Under-21 squad

The Red Devils goalscoring threat will be coming from youth product Mason Greenwood

MASON Greenwood and Callum Hudson-Odoi are among the Premier League starlets named by Aidy Boothroyd in England's Under-21 squad today.

The Manchester United and Chelsea players received their call-ups along with Arsenal trio Eddie Nketiah, Reiss Nelson and Joe Willock.

The Young Lions face Slovenia in a friendly on October 11 before playing Austria in a Euro 2021 qualifier in Milton Keynes on Tuesday 15.

Speaking ahead of the clash Boothroyd said: “We have a few players back from injury in Callum Hudson-Odoi, Reece James and Lloyd Kelly and we’re looking forward to getting back together again.

“The squad also has more playing minutes at club level than they might normally do at this stage of the season, which is great for us ahead of these matches".

England Under-21 Squad

Goalkeepers: Brandon Austin (Tottenham Hotspur), Ellery Balcombe (Viborg FF, loan from Brentford), Aaron Ramsdale (AFC Bournemouth)

Defenders: Max Aarons (Norwich City), Trevoh Chalobah (Huddersfield Town, loan from Chelsea), Marc Guehi (Chelsea), Reece James (Chelsea), James Justin (Leicester City), Lloyd Kelly (AFC Bournemouth), Jonathan Panzo (Cercle Bruges, loan from AS Monaco), Steven Sessegnon (Fulham)

Midfielders: Todd Cantwell (Norwich City), Tom Davies (Everton), Phil Foden (Manchester City), Morgan Gibbs-White (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Dwight McNeil (Burnley), Oliver Skipp (Tottenham Hotspur), Joe Willock (Arsenal)

Forwards: Rhian Brewster (Liverpool), Mason Greenwood (Manchester United), Callum Hudson Odoi (Chelsea), Reiss Nelson (Arsenal), Eddie Nketiah (Leeds United, loan from Arsenal)

Greenwood has been a revelation for under fire Man United boss Ole Gunner Solskjaer. The teenager scored the only goal in the Red Devil's Europa League win against Astana a fortnight ago.

Willock, Hudson-Odoi and Nketiah, who is currently on loan at Leeds, have also been in fine form at club level.

Willock was part of an Arsenal Europa League team that brushed Standard Liege aside on Thursday.

The young midfielder, who got on the score sheet during the Gunners' 4-0 win, had to withdraw from England's previous qualifiers following a calf injury.

Hudson-Odoi has yet to play for the Under-21 team despite making his senior debut earlier this year.

He recently returned from an Achilles injury sustained at the end of last season.

The Blues winger, who set up Chelsea's winning goal in their Champion's League game this week, was originally called up to Boothroyd's squad in March.

However injuries in Gareth Southgate's side meant the forward ended up playing his first senior game for England against the Czech Republic.

The Young Lions, who are currently top of their qualifying group, beat Kosovo 3-2 in September.

Victory against Austria will make it three wins in a row for Boothroyd's side.
