Today’s horse racing tips: Three longshots to fill your pockets at Glorious Goodwood on Friday, August 3

Don't miss out on these each-way bets for Friday, August 3

IT should be another Glorious day on the Sussex Downs as the sprinters take centre stage at Goodwood.

There's plenty of value to be had across the card and we've picked out three of the best longshots amongst some top quality, competitive racing

1

We start off in the fiendish, but valuable Golden Mile (3.00).

Horses are usually written off before they've run at Goodwood from a wide draw at these mid-trips and CAPE BYRON falls into that bracket at juicy odds.

I'd rather horses have a slightly wider trip than dropped in on the rail and Andrea Atzeni has perfected this already this week on Caravela, albeit in a much smaller field.

There's no doubting Roger Varian's horse has a big pot in him and he's even been dropped by the handicapper to a very appealing 98.

Battaash will be tough nut to crack in the Group 2 feature, but Goodwood specialist and old favourite TAKE COVER (3.35) could bounce back to his blistering best back at his favourite track.

The five furlongs at Goodwood is about as quick as it gets and the 11-year-old is back for a remarkable fifth shot at the race.

The speedball won the race in 2014 and 2016 and finished runner up in 2015. Last summer he finished fourth behind Battaash, Profitable and Marsha on ground he dislikes.

He needs to improve on what he's shown so far this season, but is priced up accordingly on these efforts and usually takes a while to get firing. No doubt David Griffiths will have him raring to go here.

Any seven furlong stakes races usually attract a big field and that's no different in the 4.40.

CAROLINAE is a stable star for Charlie Fellowes and grabbed a deserved Listed success at Chelmsford last time out.

She's improved 10lbs this season and it doesn't look as if she's ready to slow that upward curve and can step up to this wide open Group race.

Her form over 7f this summer reads 121 and the trainer looks to have found another opening for her on her biggest day to date.
