AMAZON Prime Day is ten days away, but the retailer has just launched a surprise wave of early deals.

One of the most popular is on the Ring Video Doorbell and Chime Kit, which has been slashed from £189.98 to £79.99 - for Prime members, that is.

Ten days before Prime Day is due to kick, Amazon has slashed the cost of the Ring doorbell and Chime bundle by an epic 58%

This smart bundle currently sits near the top of Amazon's list - sales have increased by 350% in the last 24 hours and it's become a best-seller.

But if you want this bit of kit at the new discounted price, you'll need to .

For the last few years, I've been reporting on Amazon Prime Day, the 48-hour sale that sees thousands of products get their prices exclusively reduced for Prime members.

MORE AMAZON DEALS

The whole point, of course, is to draw new customers into signing up to Amazon's perks-filled scheme, a charm offensive that we can now expect not once but twice a year, in July and October.

The quality of the discounts always varies: they're anywhere between spectacular, so-so and suspicious-looking (over-inflated price drops always need to be weeded out).

But there's no denying that some of the finest deals available during Prime Day are on some of Amazon's very own devices - and this Ring and Chime bundle is the perfect example.

And honestly, as I've said before when I've written about Amazon Fire tablets, you should always try to avoid paying full price on this kind of domestic smart tech.

You rarely have to wait long for a sale to come along and then prices tumble on the Amazon website.

I would never splash out £190 on a doorbell and intercom, not even one that relays a 1080p-quality video feed to my mobile phone and can be integrated into my home's Alexa ecosystem.

But for £79.99? That's a different story altogether.

'I've been using this now for almost a month and have been delighted with it,' writes on shopper on Amazon. 'It's so easy to set up, you don't need to be an IT expert.

'The quality of the video is excellent, and even the night vision is very good. It's an excellent security device, as you are alerted [in] real-time on your phone whenever there's movement.'

Another buyer writes: '[I] just love it, honestly the best one on the market. I tried another brand [and] had to send it back... wasn’t as good.'

This isn't the only early smart home offer available on Amazon right now: there's also huge savings to be had on and .

What's interesting to me is just how early these device deals have come along before Prime Day.

Often, they're launched two or three days before the sale officially kicks off. But Prime Day isn't until the week after the next (16th and 17th July).

One thing I can guarantee you is that there'll be plenty more price drops on the way - my team and I will have all the latest offers we find listed on our Amazon device deals page.

Prime Day is coming! Here's what to look out for...

Amazon's 48-hour sale is on the way, says Matt Breen, Senior Writer at The Sun.

You know the drill: the is on the way, so if you're signed up to Prime, you've got a lot of discounted products to pick up.

But the question is: are these exclusive deals actually any good? A simple answer is, well, some are - and some of the best are on Amazon's very own devices.

The price drops that I'm most excited about are on Amazon's , which only hit the market a year ago.

These falls across two categories, the and ranges (cheap as chips, 4K, no-frills) and the range (pricier, because they've got flashy QLED screens). Sizes vary from 32 inches - perfect for bedrooms - all the way to a hefty 65 inches.

If there's any time to pick up these smart tellies for less, it's Prime Day.

It remains to be seen whether we see any price drop that matches the stunning Black Friday deal that saw the 55-inch 4-Series Fire TV reduced from £550 to £149. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Regardless, you can be sure that price drops in sheer percentage terms will be high. If you're in the market for a new smart TV and you want to keep your spending under control, the Prime Day sale is a good time to strike.

Make sure you read our what size TV to buy explainer if you're not sure which screen size is right for your space.

Oh, and if you're going all out, take a look at Amazon's new , which has been launched at a promo price of £99.99 (usually £119.99).
