‘Breathtaking’ say Amazon shoppers as 11-inch Fire tablet cut from £250 to £165 in shock sale
AMAZON has slashed prices across its entire range of Fire tablets in a shock May sale.
One of the best discounts is on the top-of-the range Fire Max 11 tablet, which has been reduced by 34% to £164.99.

I wasn't expecting to see Amazon launch a wave of Fire tablet deals at this point in the calendar - not with Prime Day just a couple of months away.
But the online retailer does love to surprise shoppers by rolling these device sales out - and some
Here's a run-down of Amazon Fire tablet deals available this May:

As you can see, prices start pretty low: for anyone thinking of internet browsing or streaming, my advice is to consider any of the 8-inch sized Fire tablets and upward.
These are all HD in resolution, something which the entry-level Fire 7 lacks - probably best to steer clear of that one if watching Netflix or Love Island abroad is on your list of priorities.
Instead, the 7-inch budget device would make a great e-reader, and one that's now considerably less pricy than the 6-inch Kindle (£84.99).

Premium tablets like the Fire Max 11 usually come with extra stamina: Amazon has this advertised with 14-hour battery life.
(That's something to bear in mind if, like me, you've got a long-haul plane flight to survive this summer).
Yes, the 11-inch Max is but if you're looking for an alternative to much costlier options from Amazon and Samsung, it's an undeniable bargain.
Book-readers should weight this one up against the Kindle Paperwhite, which is also on sale right now (£109.99, was £149.99).

'Amazing device!' writes one shoppers on the Amazon website. 'The 11-inch display is simply breath-taking, with vibrant colours and crystal-clear resolution... [Its] processing power is remarkable.'
Despite that £85 discount, this isn't the cheapest we've ever seen the Fire Max 11 - it fell to £134.99 for the Black Friday sale last November.
My guess is that it will return to this price for Amazon Prime Day, which always takes place in mid-July.
You might want to hang on until then, but of course those discounts will be for Prime subscribers only.
