FFS specialises in hair and bodycare products, but the thing that really piqued our interest was its razor subscription service.

The somewhat cheeky name stands for Fuss-Free Shaving, with the business committed to making your shaving routine as effortless as possible while reducing its environmental impact.

FFS works as a subscription service and I'm constantly forgetting to re-stock razors, so I thought having them turn up at my door every few weeks would make my life a whole lot easier.

I ended up loving my FFS experience, and you can read why in my full review below.

FFS razor review: First impressions

The first thing I thought when I opened the box was "wow, they've actually thought of absolutely everything".

Things like a shower holder and a travel pouch are items that I'd never really thought about buying for myself but have been handy to have.

The exfoliator, shaving cream, and moisturiser were well presented in stylish, matching bottles and the formulations had a nice texture and smell that I was excited to try out.

I was also impressed with how well-made the razor handle is, feeling heavier in my hand than I was expecting which I take as an indication it will last far longer than a standard disposable razor.

Kit includes:

  • Sturdy metal handle
  • Four SmoothGlide blades
  • Pre-shave scrub
  • Shaving cream
  • Hydrating post-shave balm
  • Clamshell protector
  • Travel pouch
  • Shower holder

FFS razor review: The verdict

As I said in my review, I was fine using disposable razors before I tried FFS but this is no longer the case.

Upgrading from a flimsy plastic razor that goes straight into landfill to a well-made, solid metal one is a change I'll be sticking to.

I found my skin felt far smoother, softer, and more hydrated after using the FFS razor kit, and felt my fake tan went on more evenly as it had a great base to work with.

I also love the fact I will no longer have to remember to pick up a razor, as it will be automatically delivered every couple of months thanks to the handy subscription service.

I would recommend FFS to anyone who shaves regularly, is conscious of the environmental impact of disposable razors, and is always forgetting to restock razor blades.

FFS razor review: how much does it cost?

FFS has a few different pricing options depending on what you're after. If you want the full kit I tried, it will set you back £45 plus an extra £9.95 for four razor refills every one, two, or three months.

You can buy a Small Shaving Set that comes with a chrome plated handle, four SmoothGlide blades, a 100ml bottle of shave cream, a clamshell protector for your blade, a shower holder and a travel pouch for £35.

FFS doesn't just sell razors on its website, with shoppers able to pick up a range of high-quality, cruelty-free hair and bodycare products that start from £5.

Are FFS razors recyclable?

One of the things I loved most about FFS razors is its commitment to sustainability. The key difference between FFS and disposable razors is that you can re-use the handle as well as recycle the razor heads.

In order to do this, you save up to 12 blades, package them in your FFS box and send it back to them.

Once they've received the blades, they are emptied into a container where they are ground down to break the materials apart. Then, the metal and plastic are separated before they are ready to be recycled.

How can I cancel my FFS subscription?

In order to cancel your FFS razor subscription, all you need to do is go to your account, click 'edit product', and remove the product from your subscription. When you're subscription has been cancelled you will receive a confirmation email that your subscription has been cancelled.

You can also pause your subscription for up to three months if you just need a break.
