Emma Pillow review: you won’t need goose down ever again
EMMA might be known for its mattresses, but we’ve dived deeper into the online store to review its pillows.
Having a great pillow can be the difference between a great night’s sleep and tossing and turning in the wee hours.
But there are so many options out there when you’re shopping around that it’s tough to work out the best option for you.
I’ve gone through a range of pillow options in my time, from the wafer thin-affairs that served as a mainstay throughout university to progressively more expensive options every time I move house.
But the first time I’ve ever had a pillow that could realistically be called premium was in testing the Emma Original pillow and the Emma Microfibre pillow.
I've decided if they’re worth the price tag below.

Emma Premium Microfibre Pillow review
- Emma Premium Microfibre Pillow, £54.50 at Emma -
Pros
- Softer than goose down
- Adjustable height/thickness
- Machine washable
Cons
- Expensive
The first question I asked myself when testing Emma’s Premium Microfibre Pillow was: could I imagine spending £109 on a pillow? (That’s the RRP, in case you were wondering). The answer is no.
However, I could imagine spending around £50 on the pillow. And, conveniently, in the two months I’ve been testing it, the microfibre pillow has been floating around the £50 mark on Emma's website.
Now, £50 is still rather a lot for a pillow, but hear me out. With Emma’s microfibre pillow, not only are you getting the softest pillow I’ve ever laid my hands on (seriously, it’s that good) but you can also adjust its thickness so it fits your sleep position perfectly.
The microfibre pillow has two inserts that can be removed from the outer casing to make the pillow thinner or thicker, depending on your preference. That means you’re pretty much guaranteed that this pillow will suit your needs, however far you like your head to be from the mattress.
In my experience, pillows made from feathers and down can feel a little clumpy and can make you feel like your head is resting on top of something. With Emma’s microfibre pillow, you feel more like you’re sinking into the pillow, which is a pretty lux sensation that I’m a fan of.
If you like the idea of not having a super-soft pillow that’s not made from goose down for ethical or other reasons, this is the one for you.
