Flexispot E7 Pro review

With more and more people working from home, plenty of people are turning to standing desks to help them avoid the negative aspects of being hunched over a computer eight hours a day.

No matter how swanky your office chair, it’s easy to develop all manner of physical maladies from spending too much time sitting in it.

Standing desks can help to alleviate some of the more common physical problems that an office job can present, such as an aching back and bad posture from sitting down too long.

And while the jury is still out on the exact time you should look to spend standing versus sitting while at work, the general consensus is that the less time spent sitting, the better.

Now, if we’re being honest, one of the most common obstacles we’ve found for spending more time standing while at work is the inconvenience.

Whether it’s looking for a suitable surface to place your laptop on (which never seems to be the right height) or manually cranking up the height of your adjustable desk, the extra 30 seconds’ effort can be the difference between us standing up for a 20 minute stint or gradually sinking lower and lower into our desk chair.

Enter the Flexispot Pro. From the moment we had it assembled, this standing desk had our excuses dissolved and, in fact, had us looking forward to pressing the button to convert our desk to standing mode. The transition process was so smooth that we found ourselves admiring it every single time it quietly elevated from seated to standing. 

The smoothness is made even more impressive by the weight of the desk; at 70kg it’s certainly not a light piece of equipment. That means that assembling and moving the desk really is a two-person job. But the upside of all this bulk is that the Flexispot Pro standing desk is seriously sturdy. The manufacturer claims it will support (and lift!) 100kg using the powerful motors in its legs.

We’re not sure what you’re planning on lifting on top of your desk, but safe to say the Flexispot will be able to handle even the heftiest of PC set-ups.

The digital controls are nifty too, allowing you to pre-set standing and sitting height for multiple users so you can quickly adjust to the required height, no matter who’s working from home.

You should be able to find a Flexispot design to fit your home, no matter what colour scheme you’ve gone with. The desk maker offers 10 finishes on the desktops, including multiple wood effects, as well as white, black and marble. You can also customise the colour of the legs on the desk to either black, white or grey.

It’s worth noting, though, that some of effects are more expensive than others, and the costs can quickly rack up if you opt for a premium wood effect combined with options such as a curved work surface.

There’s plenty of more expensive motorised sit/stand desks out there, but you could also pick up a cheaper (albeit, more basic) option from for about £250, so we’d say the Flexispot Pro is a mid-range option in the motorised sit/stand desk market.

The verdict

The Flexispot Pro is an easy choice if you can find a design that fits your budget. Functionally we couldn’t fault the desk at any point and the only drawbacks we could see were its weight and its price. But if you pick a model at the cheaper end of the scale, we reckon it’s pretty good value if you’re planning on working from home on the regular.
