IF you love straightening your hair, chances are you're a fan of GHDs.

But, with the cult hair brand releasing a wireless straightener, how does the latest GHD Unplugged styler compare to another big brand, cordless favourite - the Dyson Corrale?

Both names are 2021 hair-styling heavyweights, so which should you choose?

We put the GHD Unplugged and the Dyson Corrale head-to-head...

GHD Unplugged Key stats:

  • Weight: 300g
  • Colours: Black or white
  • Heat: 185C
  • Charge time: Two hours
  • Battery life: 20 minutes
  • Charger type: USB-C
  • Corded option? No
  • Carry pouch? Yes
  • Price: £299

The first thing you will notice about the GHD Unplugged is its dinky size - it's truly portable and perfect for popping in your handbag.

The lightweight styler comes with a handy travel pouch and weighs an easy-to-carry 300g, making it great for quick on-the-go hair touch-ups.

Those with thicker or longer locks may find the device a little small and, when it comes to speed of styling, the charge may come up short for a full head of hair.

At £299 it certainly isn't cheap, but it's a slightly more purse-friendly alternative to the popular Dyson Corrale, which weighs in at a hefty £399.

The GHD Unplugged benefits from a handy USB-C charging port, meaning you can even charge it via your laptop - though the charge time is two hours, for 20 minutes of continuous styling.

Dyson Corrale Key stats:

  • Corded option? Yes
  • Carry pouch? Yes
  • Price: £399

The Dyson Corrale is far larger and weightier than the GHD Unplugged and far more like a traditional, wired hair styler.

The weight is pretty noticeable - it feels heavier than most straighteners - you would definitely feel this in your handbag!

The handy hair gadget can can also be used wired, a nice perk compared to the GHD Unplugged, but it definitely feels the less portable out of the two stylers.

The Corrale promises to deliver 50 per cent less damage to your locks, compared to other heat stylers, using patented flexing plates that shape together hair to deliver this enhanced, less damaging styling.

It's a great device for someone who wants the best of both worlds (wired and cordless) and it does come with a protective carry pouch for on-the-go.

When it comes to charging, the Dyson Corrale has its dock which acts like a stand for the styler too. You can just use the cord on its own, for a more portable charging option and, of course, this styler can be used whilst attached to this wire too.

The device is also pretty much a standard size - so those with long or thick hair are likely to get along well with this but, at £399, it is an investment.

The verdict: which should you buy?

Both the GHD Unplugged and the Dyson Corrale are fantastic styling tools.

Those with thick or long hair (or those who also want a corded option) will likely favour the Corrale - it offers the choice of either, can handle large amounts of hair quickly and has the longer battery life to help with this. It's fine for on-the-go when travelling or toting a large holdall but it is certainly a weighty choice, when it comes to carrying a styler around day-to-day.

Shoppers who are looking for a cheaper price point those who want a super portable option, the GHD Unplugged is probably the wisest choice. Its small size and light weight means you barely notice it when popped in your handbag, making it ideal for on-the-go.
