Joyvio Electric Heated Best, £26.94 (was £34.99)

On the Amazon website, shoppers are no less impressed.

"Fantastic! Worth every penny," wrote one.

Another happy customer commented: “This is great for sitting in an unheated British house in the lovely freezing weather we've been having.

"It warms quickly and stays toasty – though you'll need a couple of battery packs if you plan to leave it on for hours on end."

And a third reviewer wrote: "My husband works in a garage and it's always cold.

"This body warmer is perfect. [it] keeps him toasty and warm all day, well worth the money. Don't forget to buy the battery."

As to other ways to keep warm this winter, I’m a big fan of heated throws and use them regularly – I have one over my knees as I’m writing this.

Also, I love how a dehumidifier can help warm a room by removing moisture (and dry washing at the same time.)

After the initial outlay of buying the product, running costs are low, so an appliance like this 20L Pro Breeze dehumidifier is cheaper to run than your tumble dryer.

Plus, a blanket like this Dreamland luxury heated throw means you can delay switching on your central heating or turn down the thermostat.
