11 gifts for beer lovers UK 2024, including festive limited editions, beer subscriptions and Advent calendars
BEER can seem like a bit of a cliché Christmas gift.
But at the end of the day, the best gift for a beer lover will always be something beer-related.
However, that doesn't mean having to buy them the same multipack of beer that you got them last year (although if it ain't broke...).
There's an array of thoughtful, affordable beer-related gifts these days, from personalised glassware to subscriptions that deliver boozy treats to their door every month.
Below, we've rounded up the best gifts for beer lovers in 2024.
(AD) Beavertown Frozen Neck Globe Session IPA
Frozen Neck Snow Globe Session IPA, £10 (for four cans) from Beavertown
At £10 for a pack of four, makes the perfect accessory to a main gift, or an ideal Secret Santa present for a beer enthusiast.
Judging from the can, it might not seem super Christmassy, but once you crack it open, you'll realise what makes it special — Beavertown has added natural glitter to the beer to make it look like a festive snow globe.
It's based on the ever-popular Neck Oil, an extremely drinkable 4.3% session pale ale suitable for any vegan beer lovers.
If you want to bulk out the present a bit, you can also buy it as a 12-pack (£28) or a 24-pack (£54), or add one of .
Beer52 subscription
Beer52 subscription, free for one month then £24 per month
We all know that the best type of gift is one that keeps on giving, which is why we love beer subscriptions.
They ensure that the enjoyment of your present is spread over several months, rather than being wasted in one go at an impromptu post-pub afters.
While there's a range of options available, is a popular choice thanks to the sheer number of possibilities it offers; one month you might be drinking beer from the Basque region and the next you could be sipping on a pale ale from Japan.
The monthly box contains eight beers (although this can be upgraded to 10) two snacks and Ferment, Beer52's craft beer magazine.
Helpfully, you can also choose to only receive light beer, if you're not much of a porter or stout drinker.
Siren Craft Brew Advent Calendar
Beer Advent Calendar 2024, £90 from Siren (pre-order)
Siren is one of our favourite craft beer producers, and its Advent calendar is pretty unique.
It's not available until close to December because the brewery wants the beer to be as fresh as possible; many of the beers included aren't brewed until mid-November (although delivery is guaranteed before December 1st).
Among the 24 beers are some calendar-exclusive cans, and there are four seasonal beers that the brand says will appeal to chocolate fans — we're hoping that it's the brand's extremely limited , which it tends to release at this time of year.
At £90, it's certainly not the cheapest beer Advent calendar, but for a craft beer connoisseur we can't think of a better Christmas gift.
Pinter 3
Pinter 3 Beer Brewer/Dispenser, £99 from Amazon
When we tested the Pinter for our roundup of the best beer dispensers, it won the gold medal with a score of 23 from a possible 25.
The reason it scored so highly is that it's more than just a beer dispenser.
It's more of a beer-brewing device; you choose one of , which come in a variety of styles including lager, sour beer, IPA and even cider, then use the Pinter to brew it yourself, which takes around a week.
You can then dispense your beer whenever you like — our reviewer wrote that "we felt like we earned a couple of pints after crafting them ourselves."
Philips PerfectDraft
Shop PerfectDraft Bundles from £149 in the Black November Sale
If you're looking for a more middle-of-the-road beer dispenser, we'd recommend the Philips PerfectDraft.
As well as being one of the most attractively designed machines we've come across, we like that has a capacity suitable for larger events.
When we tested it, we were also impressed with the beer's shelf life, meaning it's no issue if the recipient of your gift is doing Dry January.
And to make it even more tempting, PerfectDraft is running a Black November sale, which means that pictured is just £159, down from £282.89.
And if you fancy stretching a bit, you could opt for a slightly more premium bundle, like this .
Devon Hampers Devon Dozen Ale Hamper
The Devon Dozen Twelve Ales Hamper, £52.50 from Devon Hampers
In a world of marshmallow stouts and double-dry hopped IPAs, it can be easy to forget the proper ale drinkers.
We love the hyperlocal nature of this , which rounds up 12 brews from one of the UK's best beer regions.
We've tried it and loved both the quality and diversity of the beers on offer — there's everything from light, citrusy ales to dark bitters. It's easy to drink them and imagine you're sat in a quaint pub in the Southwest.
Other reviewers agree with us, with one expressing their appreciation for "Ales not often seen in our part of the country".
Guinness Nitrosurge
Guinness Draught Nitrosurge Device, £30 from Amazon
Thanks to the magic of social media, Guinness has has a surge (get it?) in popularity over the past year or two — reportedly it now accounts for one in six pints poured in London.
However, any Guinness drinker will tell you that it simply doesn't taste the same from a can.
Thankfully the company heard drinkers' complaints and last year introduced the .
The nifty little device attaches to specialist cans (which can be bought at many supermarkets, as well as )to dispense a pub-perfect pint, using ultrasonic technology to achieve the trademark two-part pour.
Vintage Beer Mirror
Shop collectable vintage beer mirrors at eBay
If the person you're buying for doesn't live alone it might be worth checking with their partner before buying them one of these — they're certainly a bit divisive.
However, the nostalgic design certainly appeals to a certain sort of person, and the chance to own a rare vintage piece of pub memorabilia will be a great gift for many beer fanatics.
It's an especially touching gift if you can get one illustrated with their favourite beer.
If you're not too bothered about it being vintage there are vintage-looking models available for less, including
LSA International Canopy Beer Glasses
Canopy Beer Glass 520ml (Set of 4), £50 from LSA
Beer glasses are overlooked in comparison to wine glasses, and as a result, beer at home often ends up served in a makeshift glass found at the back of the cupboard.
That means that a great gift for someone who drinks a lot of beer at home is a fancy set of beer glasses.
We love these from LSA International; with a 520ml capacity, they can hold just under a pint of beer, and they look much more classy than a traditional pint glass.
Made from 100% recycled and recyclable glass, the Canopy Beer Glass is made in partnership with the Eden Project, and because each one is mouthblown, they have a charming character that makes them perfect gifts.
Brewhouse Beer Experience
Brewhouse & Kitchen Beer Masterclass with Tastings for Two, £61 from Virgin Experience Days
You may have heard of Brewhouse and Kitchen — it owns 21 pubs nationwide, all of which have a focus on craft beer.
The company also hosts beer-tasting experiences hosted by resident brewers or in-house beer experts, which would be a thoughtful present for a novice beer enthusiast.
Virgin Experience Days offers two experiences with Brewhouse and Kitchen: a two-hour , which costs £61, and a , which costs £97 per person.
Both experiences have great reviews on Virgin Experience Days, and because Brewhouse and Kitchen has outposts all over the UK, there should be one within a reasonable distance of your lucky giftee.
Yvonne Ellen Seahorse Bottle Opener
Yvonne Ellen Seahorse Bottle Opener, £10 from John Lewis
If you're looking for an affordable gift for a beer lover that isn't, well... beer, then a nice, novelty bottle opener could be the way to go.
, made by Yvonne Ellen and available at John Lewis, is both fun and sort of classy — it'll make them smile every time they open a beer (if they weren't already).
And at just £10, there might be enough money left in your budget to gift some bottles for them to open, too.
Where to buy gifts for beer lovers
If you're simply looking to buy beer, the best place to go would be the website of a brewery that your recipient is fond of.
Many of them do beer Advent calendars, which can be a great way to count down to the big day, or you can simply buy a beer gift set.
We're particularly fond of , and bigger breweries like and do festive limited editions.
If you're looking for accessories, we'd recommend looking at department stores such as who often curate gift pages dedicted to alcohol.
How much do beer gift sets cost?
This is a bit of a "how long is a piece of string?" question — the answer is that you can spend however much you like on a beer gift set.
If you're opting for a gift set from a premium craft brewer, you can expect to pay around £10 for a pack of four beers (although you might be able to get them cheaper if you don't opt for festive limited editions).
Meanwhile, for a premium set containing around a dozen beers — like the in our gift guide — or one that includes glassware, you'll probably be spending around £50.
And if you want to go all out and get them a fancy beer Advent calendar, prices start from around £60 and go up to the £90 mark.
