Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Plumpgasm review: quick summary

There are a number of things I love about the .

Firstly, it does plump my lips, or at least give the illusion of a fuller pout.

The formula is not tacky or sticky, but silky smooth like a nourishing lip oil should be, but the best part and a non-negotiable for me is the product doesn’t slip.

By that I mean when a lip gloss, oil, lip liner or lipstick starts to bleed out of my lip line or drip to my chin, which this product doesn’t do.

Subtle and universally flattering shades

The colours are universal (it comes in two shades: a fair/medium or medium/deep).

The Pillow Talk pigments infused in adds that touch of nudey-pink to the lips, while also adding shine without looking pearlescent on the lips.

It can be layered to get a deeper pigment rather than a subtle hint of colour, which is another huge win in my book as it allows me more control over the colour of my lips.

Some days the pigment of my lips may be softer than other days, which I assume is down to dehydration, but this lip oil doesn’t paint over the natural lip colour and make it look like I’m wearing a glaringly obvious colour lip gloss.

The fair/medium hue looks almost like a clear gloss, though it does have a soft blush tone to it.

It is most like the original Matte Revolution Pillow Talk lipstick as it is a slightly softer nude-pink hue, while the medium/deep is a slightly deeper rose or berry.

The shades appear more sheer when applied on the lips

I must also stress when I swatched on my hand the colours looked deeper than on my lips, though the final colour pay-off will depend on the natural tones of your lips and pigmentation.

I love that you can layer the over Lip Cheat liners or lipsticks for extra colour, or wear them alone (day or night) throughout the seasons. It is timeless and I love it.

Tingly feeling

If you are not one for a tingly lip gloss then this may be the downfall for you.

While there are numerous other lip-plumping products out there, I can attest that this drop does what it says on the tin.

I’m used to it and like the feeling of the plumping formulation being activated, though others may not like it.

Easy to apply

The wand glides onto my lips and the diamond shape makes it easier to slick the gloss over my lips in one swift movement.

If I am wearing the Plumpgasm without lip liner I will use the pointed tip to specifically target the outer lip area I would usually line, and flatten the applicator against my lips for the rest.

My only negative thought would be if you have smaller lips the applicator might be too big and make a mess.

But then again, to avoid this, you could be more precise in your application using the tip rather than the flat of the doe brush applicator.

Plumping effects that last

The new creation promises to leave your lips looking 93% plumper, 77% smoother and twice as hydrated compared to rival products.

The nourishing and plumping effects last longer than colour stays on your lips.

When the Plumpgasm shade had worn off and my lips lost the glass-like finish, the appearance remained voluminous and felt super soft.

One negative element I noted was the Plumpgasm gloss is housed in a chunky tube, so if you want a compact gloss to fit in a clutch bag for a night out it may be a squeeze.

However, day to day the bigger packaging is easy to find in your bag, but dissimilar to other more streamlined glosses I have from Charlotte Tilbury.
