I HAVE very fine hair that gets knotty and often leaves a matted clump at the back of my neck, so detangling spray is the cornerstone of my haircare routine.

This week, I put three to the test.

: As soon as I sprayed this, I knew it wasn’t going to be a winner for me.

Unfortunately, I can’t get past the smell.

It is super sweet and sickly – think foam bananas from the pick ’n’ mix stall.

It clings to hair all day so you are constantly reminded of it.

That aside, it is a decent detangling product and didn’t feel heavy or greasy on my hair.

However, it is one that definitely reminds me of something my mum would have used when I was a child.

So if you are looking for something a bit more grown-up, then I would say it is worth investing in something slightly more expensive.

Mid-range

: I feel compelled to disclose that I have been using this product daily since the brand launched exactly a year ago – so it will come as no surprise that it is my favourite of the three.

It is super-lightweight, so it is impossible to apply too much – for scientific purposes, I’ve tried.

Having tried (and loved) many products from the brand, I had high hopes for this spray.

But the consistency is thicker than I was expecting for a detangler that is meant to be great for even fine hair.

I found that, once dry, I could feel an almost sticky residue.

At first, the stickiness helped give my roots some volume and bounce, but in turn, it made it greasy faster than usual.

Although, if you have thicker hair that might not be an issue.

IF you are looking for a beauty bargain, take a trip to Primark.

The brand’s new PS… Pro make-up collection features the likes of the instant bronzing drops, £3.50, and matte cream blush, £4.50.

Both look suspiciously similar to cult beauty products that cost ten times more.

For the price, they are worth taking a punt on.
