The thicker fabric of these M&S leggings makes them perfect for wearing out rather than for exercise – and you can't argue with the price.

The waistband felt like it held my tummy in securely, but was still really comfortable. The flare is flattering and balances out the hips without having too much extra fabric sagging round the waist.

Because of the side seams, they’ve got more of a trouser-like appearance with the comfort of leggings, making them a great versatile option. They're perfect if you don’t want to look ultra casual when out running errands, but still want something that's smart and really easy to wear.

The only downside is that the waistband is the type that can curl and get twisted after a few times of putting the trousers on, so you sometimes have to straighten it out.

But that's something I can live with though, because overall I love these leggings.

Plus, the regular leg was the perfect length for me (I'm 5ft 3) and didn't swamp me, unlike others I tried.

My first impression of these leggings was how soft and lightweight they are. They look tiny at first, but it wasn't an effort to get into them at all, as they're really stretchy.

The hold is quite subtle but I still felt nicely smoothed. Wearing them all day, I couldn't help but marvel at how comfy they are – plus the lining feels super soft and kind on the skin.

I was on my period while trying them and would 100% recommend them for that, as the hold on the stomach is perfect: gently supportive but not too tight.

Another plus was how flattering they were around the crotch area, with no camel toe in sight or bagginess that I normally get with other leggings. The flare starts gently at the knee which I found to be really flattering and a great silhouette for me.

Because of how comfortable and lightweight they are, they're probably best suited to sofa days or light exercises like walking or yoga – rather than any activity where you want a bit more hold.

Overall, they're the kind of leggings that feel like a second skin. And little details like the product tag which is made from seed paper and plantable just make TALA feel that bit more special.

I've heard great things about these TALA leggings so I couldn't wait to try them out myself. These yoga pants feel soft and smooth and have a nice thickness to them: which is exactly what I'd want from a yoga pant.

I found them super flattering and loved the smoothing effect they gave on my legs.

There's a small and discreet pocket on the back of the waistband for your keys. This was handy when I headed out for a walk and didn't want to take a bag, although I probably wouldn't keep a key in the pocket while doing yoga.

The wrap waistband is a design detail that really elevates these leggings into something I'd happily wear out and about with a blazer as TALA suggests.

The grey marl finish is very chic but one thing to note is that you'll definitely need to wear a flesh-coloured thong or nude-coloured seam-free underwear as they're quite see-through.

I adore the matte finish of these leggings: it makes them look so smooth and flawless. Unfortunately, they're a bit too long for my frame as I'm petite, but I could get away with them not dragging on the floor when I wore them out with a pair of wedge trainers.

The teal shade is slightly less vibrant than the images on the Gymshark website suggest – in real life, it has a more muted tone (true to my picture) with grey hints which I actually really like.

They're quite thin so they don't have a smoothing effect or feel like they have any hold: because of this, I'd probably size down if I were to try them again – but they're undeniably comfy.

They're great value too: I can see why Gymshark called them 'Everyday' because they're the perfect go-to leggings for daily wear.

I love the draped fit of these Palazzo pants - they're a winner if you want something that floats down from your hips to a flare rather than being fitted on the thigh.

Fabric-wise, they're incredibly soft and lightweight. The bamboo and cotton blend honestly feels so good on the skin: like air!

BAM recommends these for a Yin Yoga practice and I can see why: they're effortlessly comfortable and floaty, especially as the fold-over waistband doesn’t dig in whatsoever.

I've seen yoga fans online wear this style with the waistband both rolled down, as well as fully up, which I was intrigued to try - however, I found it was too baggy and loose to wear unrolled.

The overall fit did feel slightly too much on the large side, which is similar to another BAM pair I own, so if I tried these again, I would size down for the perfect fit.

First up, the chocolate brown hue of these leggings is just: chef's kiss. It makes a nice difference from black, while still being dark and looking ultra chic.

The waist is extra high – practically up to the bra line, so there's plenty of coverage if that's what you're after.

There's lots of stretch so they're very easy to get into: these aren’t leggings that look tiny before you put them on. I personally prefer a bit more hold on the tummy and legs, but having said that – I still felt like they had a smoothing effect on me.

The flare is very statement but unfortunately for me, too long. Even with the waistband pulled really high, the flares were puddling on the floor.

Having tried different price points, I'm not sure I'd say these are worth the £108 price tag compared to cheaper options – but they're lovely and soft, have a breathable fabric and the pocket on the back of the waistband is a handy practical feature.

Sporty Spice, eat your heart out.

I love the vibrant red of these flared leggings and the retro stripe, but somehow the fabric isn't how I imagined: I thought it would be a soft jersey (my fault for not checking the fabric composition) but it's actually a thick polyester that's pretty scratchy and unappealing.

I could see just from looking at them that they'd be far too long for me and I was right. They still touch the floor, even with my wedge trainers on.

I'm conflicted, because the silhouette is actually really flattering, with a high waistband and smoothing look. Plus the flares are super wide and statement – perfect for teaming with a crisp white t-shirt for a sporty, off-duty look that packs a punch.

However, I just can't get past the fabric (and the length) so they're sadly, not for me.

Unfortunately, this was another Boohoo pair that missed the mark for me.

I chose them as I loved what looked like a lilac hue on the model image, but in person, they were a lot more dull and grey-toned – although to be fair, I realised after that Boohoo describes them as grey, so that's on me.

I was expecting a thicker ribbed fabric; sort of like a faux cord, but they're plissé, which is not mentioned in the product description, so they're incredibly thin, with no hold or structure to them whatsoever.

I'm genuinely baffled by them being called 'Shaper Waistband' as the waistband isn't reinforced, making it quite floppy.

On the plus side, the flare has a nice drapey look and wasn't too long. If you're after a pair of lightweight plissé trousers for wearing around the house, they might be ok.
