read more gift guides

If the special lady in your life is a beauty and skincare lover then I have just the gift for you this Christmas.

Beauty Pie launched its own take on an advent calendar this year, creating the Super Beauty Holiday Haul which is perfect for gifting.

Packed with 15 premium products and housed in a silver beauty bag, it's the ultimate option for those that take wellness and self-care seriously.

I was so impressed with not just the packaging, but everything that is contained within - from sumptuous body creams to transformative hair heroes, there's something in there for everyone.

Worth £645, the Super Beauty Holiday Haul is amazing value for money costing members just £175 for the whole thing.

If you're not a member it will set you back £323, but don't worry: Beauty Pie offers a 60 day free trial which is super easy to set up meaning you can get the beauty bag for less.

As someone who wears eyeshadow every day, I particularly love the Keep This eyeshadow palette in Smoky Plum - its array of shimmer and matte shades is ideal for my hazel eyes, so I'm obsessed!

Dr Dennis Gross DRx SpectraLite FaceWare Pro

15

Dr Dennis Gross DRx SpectraLite FaceWare Pro, £465

Pros:

  • Quick - only 3 minutes a day
  • Brighter Skin
  • Even skin tone
  • Reduces redness and helps clear breakouts
  • Has both red light therapy and blue light

Cons:

  • Strap not secure
  • Expensive

With a combination of over 150 LED lights in blue and red modes to help target different problematic skin needs - this mask promotes a more youthful and even complexion. Tackling blemishes, anti-ageing and firmness, the mask is suitable for all ages.

I struggled with acne and redness in my late twenties and tried a lot of skincare products that would help initially in the short term but wouldn't have any long-term results.

I’ve been using the for two years now and it’s still the best gift I’ve received.

The blue light helped get rid of my acne and has also prevented new breakouts. If I’m away on holiday and don’t use my LED mask, I notice that my skin starts breaking out and looks less plump.

The red light therapy has helped even my skin tone along with my favourite .

My skin looks visibly brighter and plump. The red light therapy is also great for anti-ageing as it can also smooth out any stubborn wrinkles.

Even though the mask has a hefty price tag of £465, I would purchase it over and over again. It’s worth the investment—my skin has never looked better, and it’s saved me from expensive dermatologist appointments.

Freddie's Flowers Subscription

15

Freddie's Flowers Flower Subscription, from £26

Pros:

  • Beautiful flowers
  • Different every month
  • Choice of subscription type
  • Choice of the number of boxes
  • Teaches how to flower arrange

Cons:

  • Price adds up

What’s better than a bunch of flowers? Several bunches!

I first signed up to Freddie's Flowers in lock-down to brighten those dark days, and have continued to drop in and out of the subscriptions whenever I feel I need a boost.

I’ve always opted for the smallest and cheapest subscription option and even then flowers have the wow factor.

It’s such a lovely thing to receive on your doorstep and I loved learning to arrange the flowers based on the instructions.

Flowers are a great way to let someone know you care about them, and I think it’s an excellent gift option for mums, girlfriends, and friends alike.

The cheapest subscription option is £26 where the recipient would receive fortnightly flowers, and the most expensive is £600 which includes 12 bunches of the most extravagant bouquets, so there’s an option to explore for most budgets.

SIMBA STORMUR Slipper

15

STORMUR Slipper, £69

Pros:

  • Super practical
  • Stylish
  • Excellent quality
  • Can be worn indoors and out

Cons:

  • Feels more like a shoe than a slipper

Simba, my favourite mattress brand, has burst onto the slipper scene and I’ve not been left disappointed.

They’ve designed a truly practical yet stylish clog that can be worn both inside your home and out.

If you’re after a super comfy fluffy slipper, these probably aren’t for you as they definitely feel more like a shoe than a traditional slipper.

However, that’s because they’ve been designed to feel like you're walking barefoot outdoors and they have nine pressure points to massage your feet.

I can’t say I particularly feel like I’m walking outdoors and I’ve yet to notice the pressure points, but I can say that I find them really comfortable to wear and the quality of them is excellent.

They remind me a lot style-wise of the Birkenstock Boston’s and I feel like I could get away with wearing them as a fashion choice out of the house.

I’d say they’re a great gift for anyone you know who is constantly pottering around their garden as their indoor/outdoor nature is undeniably convenient, as well as any Boston clog lovers out there.

Abbott Lyon 2024 Made More You Advent Calendar

15

Abbott Lyon 2024 Made More You Advent Calendar, £299.00

Pros:

  • Packaging and jewellery is personalised
  • High-quality products
  • Good variety of jewellery types
  • Name and birthstone personalisation

Cons:

  • Only 12 days of advent, not 24
  • Although high quality, still expensive for what is provided

This Advent calendar offers great personalised options, from being able to choose between gold or silver, to the birthstone and initial options.

I’m truly impressed by the quality of this calendar and it would make a thoughtful gift for any of the special ladies in your life.

It's a premium option with 12 unique pieces valued at £500. However, despite a 40% discount, it still costs £299, making it quite expensive.

Despite this, the beautifully packaged, personalised items and high-quality jewellery make this one of the best gifting Advent calendars for 2024.

NEOM Wellbeing Pod Mini

15

Wellbeing Pod Mini - Waterless Essential Oil Diffuser in Black, £55

Pros:

  • Portable
  • Chic
  • Rechargable
  • Waterless

Cons:

  • Residue can build at the top
  • Will only scent a smaller space

I have been recommending this portable NEOM Wellbeing Pod to everyone that I know.

One of my bug bears with traditional diffusers is that they go gross so quickly because of the water involved.

This pod has a micro-diffuser which plugs directly into an oil which means absolutely no water and no cleaning.

It also comes with an empty oil bottle so you are not just shackled to a NEOM-only oil but can choose your own oil to go in it.

It’s also perfect for a smaller space like home office or cloakroom and because its rechargeable, there is no need to be near a socket.

The battery life is good for the size and occasionally you need to give it a wipe down as the top can start to look like an antique mirror with the micro-diffused oil build up but it’s a piece of cake when compared to a normal diffuser.

Ottoman Hands Etta Chain Necklace

15

Ottoman Hands Etta Chain Necklace, £139

Pros:

  • Heavy
  • Very on trend
  • High quality
  • Sustainable
  • Stack-able

Cons:

  • Slightly expensive for the material

I have always been a gold jewellery fanatic and love statement chain pieces - so finding the right one to blend in with my existing pieces is always a challenge.

This Ottoman Hands chain is made from 21ct gold plated recycled brass and makes a perfect addition to any winter outfit.

It can be worn from day to night and sits snug around the neck, also acting as a perfect stack-able piece.

So, if the lady in your life is already inundated with necklaces and statement pieces, this one will fit in just right amongst her collection.

My only qualm is the price point since it is only gold plate. However, it is a sustainable gift with durability due to its brass interior.

A must have for any gold and jewellery buff in your life!

Oura Ring

The Oura Ring is an alternative to smartwatches and fitness trackers

The Oura Ring is an alternative to smartwatches and fitness trackers

Heritage Oura Ring, £234.64 ($299)

Pros:

  • Very lightweight
  • Partners with other apps including Natural Cycles
  • Easy sleep tracking
  • Long battery life
  • Precise step counter
  • Stylish
  • Comes in different colours and versions

Cons:

  • Size of the ring can be chunky and uncomfortable for some especially when sleeping
  • Need a subscription to work to full potential

The Oura ring is the latest fitness tracking creation many shoppers are raving about and is an alternative to smartwatches.

The Oura Ring syncs up to an app, like most wearable fitness devices, to monitor the wearer's heart rate, temperature, activity and sleep schedule using research-grade sensors for an accurate insight into your health.

It is super easy to set up and simple to find the perfect ring to fit your finger with a free sizing kit.

It is extremely accurate in measuring activity and health throughout the day and the long battery life, which can last up to seven days after one charge is impressive (some fitness devices do not last as long).

However, the chunky design may be uncomfortable for some, especially when you sleep, and it requires a sign up to the Oura subscription to reap all of the benefits of the ring.

If you are buying for the fitness lover or someone who wants the gift of a pleasant night's sleep, this is something we're sure will go down a treat.

Feather & Down Pillow Spray

15

Feather & Down Pillow Spray, £7.99

Pros:

  • Low Price
  • On the go comfort

Cons:

  • Could be longer lasting

I've been a pillow-spray convert ever since I was given  as a gift a few years ago.

I'm not sure there's any science behind it, but I challenge anyone to have a cup of chamomile tea, a hot bath, and a few spritzes of pillow spray without keeling over.

However, I've discovered that I like to use it liberally, and I'm enough of an overspender without spending £21 on pillow spray every month or two.

Feather and Down's pillow spray is on the more affordable side — you can get a pair of 50ml sprays for just £6.75 at Boots — and it has the same soporific effects; the combination of lavender and chamomile makes me feel like I'm falling asleep in a barn somewhere in the French countryside.

The trick is to use it regularly at home, and then take it with you when you travel; it's a great way of bringing the comfort and security of your own bed with you when you're on the go.

Its low price point means it's a great auxiliary gift to give alongside a main present, and its mass appeal also means that it's a great secret Santa gift

Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser

The Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser has been a huge popular success

The Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser has been a huge popular successCredit: HOTEL CHOCOLAT

Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser, £99.95

Pros:

  • Easy to use
  • Easy to clean
  • Compact design
  • Can make lattes as well as hot chocolate
  • Stylish on the worktop
  • The set includes a box of sachets
  • Quick to create hot chocolate

Cons :

  • Expensive
  • Only compatible with Hotel Chocolat sachets
  • Limited colours

The has been a hugely popular purchase since it launched and makes a great gift as the stylish device creates creamy hot chocolates in under three minutes and at the touch of a button.

It's easy to use, and also has a detachable handle that's simple to remove and rinse under the tap to clean - and is also dishwasher safe.

However, it does come with an expensive price tag considering it only makes one cup at a time and is not compatible with other brands.

But if you are willing to splash the cash on your Mum who loves nothing more than a cosy night in with a warm cup of cocoa, this is a great treat.

Stanley Quencher H2.0

The Stanley Quencher has been a sell-out success
15
The Stanley Quencher has been a sell-out successCredit: Stanley

Stanley Quencher H2.0, £45

Pros:

  • Lightweight
  • Compact to take on the go
  • Ergonomic design,
  • 1.2-litre capacity
  • Fitted with a straw
  • Stainless steel to keep the contents cold for 11 hours or hot for seven hours
  • 90% recycled material
  • Dishwasher safe

Cons:

  • Expensive
  • Some spillage
  • Does not fold or compact away

The Stanley Quencher H2.0 is everywhere right now, hence why it's a sell-out success.

Made from 90% recycled material, this stainless steel bottle is perfect for hot and cold drinks; it can keep your beverage hot for seven hours or cold for 11 hours, and holds over a litre of liquid to help keep you hydrated all day long.

I found the straw, large capacity and temperature regulator made it easy to stay hydrated.

However, the large design a little clunky and not the most practical when on the go as it does not compress like some portable flasks or bottles.

If you are shopping for a fitness fanatic, the health conscious or someone who loves staying ahead of the trends, this will go down a storm.

Dreamland Heated Throw

Dreamland Hygge Days Luxury Faux Fur Warming Throw, £89.69

Pros:

  • Safe to leave switched on all night
  • Long cable
  • Timer
  • Six temperature settings
  • Safe for use in a tumble dryer
  • Fast heat up
  • Cost-effective to run

Cons:

  • Expensive
  • Limited colours and patterns

Heated blankets have become hugely popular, and a cost-effective way to stay warm in the cold winter months without turning the heating on full whack.

The Dreamland blanket has six heat settings, as well as a timer option, so you can select the best run time to suit your needs and keep your bed warm before you go to sleep.

The various heat settings and the timer options, make it easy to pre-heat the bed as well as keep you warm throughout your sleep, while also being super soft to the touch.

I loved that this was one of the rare few you could tumble dry.

However, it does have a slightly hefty price tag.

If you are looking for a cosy night in, or to keep your partner a little warmer when you're not around, this heated blanket will come in use.

Five hair styling tools in one

Shark FlexStyle 5 in 1 Hair Styler & Dryer, £200

Pros:

  • Neat storage case
  • Lightweight and easy to use
  • Creates a range of different curls and waves
  • Cheaper than the Dyson Airwrap

Cons:

  • Still an expensive tool
  • Curls don't last long
  • A bit fiddly to press the buttons

Anyone who knows a thing or two about beauty will have heard of the - a clever 5-in-1 hair styling tool that's been compared to the Dyson Airwrap.

Scoring it an impressive 4 out of 5 overall, I love the effect it had on my hair, whether drying it smooth and straight or creating curls.

However, one common problem is that the curls don't last long (a similar issue with the Airwrap), but using styling products and the tool's cold air button can help with that.

Always Pan

15

Always Pan, £130

Pros:

  • Versatile and multi-use
  • Non-toxic
  • Non-stick ceramic coating
  • Attractive
  • Spoon-rest

Cons:

  • Expensive
  • Need to be careful washing up,
  • Cast iron pans are better for searing food
  • Loses non-stick after around a year

Know a budding chef or a fabulous home cook? Then the Always Pan is the perfect present.

The 8-in-1 pan that works as well as it looks, we called the "Always Pan is certainly an on-trend, must-have addition to your kitchen".

It's brimming with handy features, uses non-stick coating, and has handy features such as a spatula/spoon holder on the handle.

It heats up fast, is very hardwearing, but unfortunately isn't oven safe.

The selling point of the Always Pan is that it's incredibly versatile: you can use this one pan for everything from frying and sautéing to steaming and boiling

Vertuo Next Matt Coffee Machine, Black

15

Vertuo Next Matt Coffee Machine, Black £130

Pros:

  • Quieter than older Nespresso models
  • Sleek design
  • Slim and compact profile

Cons:

  • Only uses Vertuo pods

I have always been a big fan of the original Nespresso coffee machines and had one for years and years before I was forced to upgrade due to my old machine finally giving up the ghost.

I opted for another Nespresso machine for a few reasons.

Firstly, I know these machines are reliable and Nespresso offers a very good warranty on new machines and excellent in-store and online customer service.

I love the extensive pod options - the Vertuo Next model I am recommending here is only compatible with the larger Vertuo pods, but I have been pleasantly surprised by the endless options of pods depending on what drinks you like to make.

I also was able to claim 50 free pods for my new machine from the website and got a random selection of different pods to try out. I would highly recommend them as a way to sample some coffee pods you may never have tried before.

The machine couldn't be easier to operate - the one-button operation means making your morning brew is so simple a child could do it.

The Vertuo Next comes in an array of modern colourways but I opted for the goes-with-anything matt black option.

It looks stylish, sturdy and streamlined without being bulky, which is perfect for most sized kitchens.

The detachable cup rest means you can make a variety of different-sized drinks, ranging from dinky expresso shots to giant mugs and the one-litre water tank means you're not having to constantly refill each time you use it.

READ MORE SUN STORIES

The other bonus is it holds quite a few used pods, which is handy day to day as you don’t have to keep emptying that part of the machine.
