Oodie

oodie-best-gifts-for-men
32
We love our Oodie hooded blanketCredit: Oodie
  • Oodie, £49 (Was £89) from The Oodie -

Why we love it: It's warm, soft and cosy and there are loads of designs to choose from. It could also potentially help to reduce your heating bills while the weather is still chilly

What could be improved: It is quite expensive when not on sale and can be bulky to store when you're not wearing it. It isn't the most flattering piece of clothing either so fashion-conscious fellas may not approve

We put the bestselling to the test, and for the ultimate in comfort when WFH or snuggling up on the sofa, in our opinion nothing beats it.

These oversized hooded wearable blankets have gone viral in recent years, and after trying them out ourselves, we get the hype. We love how unbelievably soft and comfy they are, and they really do keep us warm on cold days at home.

One downside is that they're quite expensive at full price but you can usually find some sort of deal on, such as the current .

We found the designs to be fairly unisex, but for the ultimate cosy couple look, you can buy matching Oodies for yourself and your partner - luckily there's currently a 'buy one, get one free' deal on .

If he loves cosying up on the sofa with a good film, then we think this is the gift for him.

Katana Chef's Knife

A Katana Saya knife in its wooden box with leather sheath.
32

Katana Saya Olivewood 15cm Damascus Chef's Knife, £84 from Farrar Tanner

Why we love it: Personalisable, sharp, beautiful

What could be improved: The box could have an engraving option

If you’re a regular in the kitchen, you’ll know that a good knife can make all the difference when preparing food.

The Katana Saya Damascus Chef’s nice is the perfect gift for that foodie in your life. The 15cm (5.9in) blade is an excellent all-rounder and it’ll have your back whether dicing, slicing or filleting.

It’s presented in a wooden gift box with a leather sheath to cover the 67-layer VG-10 Damascus Steel. The handle is made of elegant olive wood — it’s one to keep out on display for sure.

The Katana was the prized sword of the Samurai and this beauty emulates a similar craftsmanship.

Want to add a little personal touch? You can even have the blade engraved for an extra fiver!

Salomon XT-6

a pair of white salomon shoes sitting on top of a cardboard box
32

XT-6 Sportstyle Shoes, £165 from Salomon

Why we love it: Stylish, comfortable, come in a wide array of colourways

What could be improved: Expensive, the white colourway we tested does get dirty easily

Salomon, a company that used to be known primarily for its winter sports equipment, never seemed like the most likely candidate to come out with the next it-trainer.

However, it released the XT-6 back in 2013, and slowly gained momentum, appearing on the Fashion Week runways in 2016.

By the time Rihanna did her Superbowl half-time show in a pair of Salomons in 2023, you could spot the XT-6 on the feet of every cool guy in North London.

We tried out a white pair, and while the design might be divisive, we loved its slim, utilitarian vibe, as well as the "Quicklace" system (essentially a hi-tec drawstring) that sets it apart from other trainers.

They're also extremely comfortable, and unsurprisingly for shoes made by Salomon, they're comfortable enough to walk around in all day.

Bartesian Cocktail Machine

Bartesian cocktail maker pouring a drink.
32

Bartesian Cocktail Machine, £299 £199 from Currys

Why we love it: Great for parties, you can choose how strong you want your cocktail, lots of choices available

What could be improved: Not cheap, pods mean there's an ongoing cost

We can all agree cocktails are delicious, but we're also familiar with the regret that accompanies the bill in a fancy cocktail bar.

Enter the Bartesian Cocktail Machine, which allows you to make bar-quality cocktails at home using pods — it's similar to an at-home coffee machine.

There's a wide array of classics available, from Long Island iced tea to espresso martinis, as well as some exciting concoctions like pineapple margaritas and a "Grinch Appletini".

It's now too late to get this delivered in time for Christmas, but you can click-and-collect from Currys stores.

Guinness Nitrosurge Device

Guinness Nitro Surge Experience home pour kit.
32
  • Guinness Draught Nitrosurge Device, £30 from Amazon -

Why we love it: Easy to use, not too expensive and you can pour a pint like in a pub

What could be improved: You have to buy special Guinness Nitrosurge cans

Guinness has been the trendiest tipple going in 2024, with pubs running dry of the beloved stout this festive season.

A more affordable way to replicate the taste of a pub pint is with this nifty little – and we've put it to the test.

Our in-house Guinness connoisseur confirmed that this easy-to-use little gadget did indeed create a pint of Guinness that tastes like what you get out of the tap at the pub.

If you're looking for a smaller gift for anyone who loves Guinness, why not get him this tool plus a pack of ?

The Essence Vault perfume

a bottle of the essence vault perfume sits next to its box
32

Inspired by Ombre Leather - 470 (30ml), £26.95 from The Essence Vault

Why we love it: Affordable, a good impression of the scent they're based on, long-lasting

What could be improved: We found them not to be quite as refined as the original scents, the packaging leaves something to be desired

Buying someone a perfume can be an expensive endeavour, especially if you're after a scent from a designer brand.

However, if you're looking for a smaller gift — perhaps not a main present — you could always get them a dupe of their favourite perfume.

The Essence Vault sells a massive array of convincing impressions of designer perfumes, with prices for a 30ml bottle starting from around £15.

When we tried a few out for our Essence Vault review, our writers concluded that they were a good way to extend the life of an expensive scent — wear the real thing for special occasions, and the dupe day-to-day.

Beats Pill

a box for a beats pill speaker sits on a wooden table
32

Beats Pill, £149 £135 from Amazon

Why we love it: Good sound quality, portable, brand name makes it perfect for gifting

What could be improved: Heavier than we expected, there are cheaper options available

It might seem like something of an obvious gift, but a Beats Pill is the perfect present for anyone who brings the life to the party.

It offers great sound quality, it's easy to connect to and we found that it lasted the full 24 hours that its manufacturer claims.

And while it's a bit heavier than it might look, it's still portable enough that you can throw it in your bag without much thought; it's also equipped with IP67 dust and water resistance, making it the perfect beach companion.

At £150, it's neither the most affordable or most pricey speaker on the market, but it's well priced as a gift for a close loved one and there's no denying that the brand name makes it perfect gifting fodder.

iRobot Roomba i5+

Robot vacuum cleaner on a hard wooden floor.
32

Roomba i5+ Combo Robot Vacuum and Mop, £649 from iRobot

Why we love it: Effective for day-to-day cleaning, mapping capabilities make it more organised than cheaper alternatives, mopping capabilities, easily controlled through the iRobot app, oddly endearing

What could be improved: Can sometimes miss spots, you will still need to hoover occasionally

Buying someone a vacuum cleaner can certainly be seen as a pointed gift, but there's no denying that a robot vacuum is the perfect gift for the man who hates to clean (which, in our experience, is most men).

The Roomba i5+ is a mid-range model from the biggest name in robot vacuum cleaners, iRobot.

While it doesn't come with every attribute available, it does come with features that set it apart from budget robovacs; namely mapping capabilities, which enable it to create a digital blueprint of your home, and a self-emptying feature, meaning that you only have to empty it once every few months.

In his Roomba i5+ review, Reviews Manager Kieran Ahuja wrote: "It's extremely well-placed on the spectrum of robot vacuums, I'd say; sophisticated enough to do what you need it to do to a high standard, without the bells and whistles that would add hundreds more pounds to its RRP."

Philips Handheld Steamer 3000 Series

A person holding a handheld steamer, looking at the garment hanging in the background.
32

Philips Handheld Steamer 3000 Series, £37.99

Why we love it: Portable, perfect gift for those on the move, easy to use, comes with a transportable satchel

What could be improved: Slightly noisy, if on the go you need access to water

This makes an ideal gift for any jet-setter or on-the-go man in your life.

Its foldable design means it can slip into any suitcase or bag without taking up room and its cord can be tightly wound around the handle, able to be plugged into any mains socket.

Our reviewer loved how easy it was to use as well as its portability, the only downsides noted were that it takes a little while longer to get the creases out compared to a regular iron.

However, for £37.99 it makes a great stocking stuffer and practical present.

Moccamaster KBG Select Coffee Machine

a yellow moccamaster select coffee maker sits on a wooden table
32

Moccamaster KBG Select Filter Coffee Machine, £249 £229 from Amazon

Why we love it: Looks great, excellent if you want to make a lot of drip coffee at once, keeps coffee warm

What could be improved: A bit of a faff if you only want to make one cup, requires a bit of counter space

We're going to go on record and say that the Moccamaster KBG is the best-looking coffee machine we've come across.

Sure, it doesn't have the sleek modern metal finish of, say, a Sage bean-to-cup machine, but there's something about the retro design that we find really appealing; it also helps that its available in more than 20 colours, which means it'll fit in any kitchen (as long as it has the space).

We think it's the perfect coffee accessory for a coffee drinker who works from home; it's great for making batches of pourover coffee, and it keeps the pot nice and warm well after it's finished brewing.

Admittedly, it's not quick to use, and it's also not an ideal accessory if you just want to make a cup at a time, but we can think of few better pleasures in life than a lazy Sunday morning with a pot of coffee on the Moccamaster.

Landmann BBQ

a grill that has the word petro on it
32
  • Fryton Gas BBQ with Integrated Air Fryer, £699.99 £599.99 from Landmann -

Why we love it: In-built air fryer, easy to build, looks high-end, easy to use, quick

What could be improved: Expensive, needs a power source, no cover included, air fryer is small

Men and BBQs go pretty well together, in fact, we're not sure we've ever met a guy who didn't naturally gravitate to the BBQ.

Landmann has developed a modern take on the BBQ, and thrown an air fryer into the mix.

At first, our tester was left confused as to why you would want to add an air fryer to the tool, but "after spending an afternoon cooking out in the garden, my answer would be: “Why not?”

The new tool is perfect for feeding big families and friends thanks to its extra gas ring and air fryer, and the combined tools mean you don't have to spend time running back and forth from the house.

It makes BBQ-ing easier than ever before, with our tester saying "The addition of the gas ring and air fryer, it almost goads you into upping your game" adding that "because the Landmann features gas and electricity working in tandem, your food is done in half the time of a usual barbecue.£

However, it is expensive, so we'd recommend it's a great choice if there's a lot of you chipping in.

Oura Ring

oura-best-gifts-for-men
32
  • Oura Ring Heritage, from $299 (£234.24) + $5.99 (£4.69) monthly membership from Oura -

Why we love it: Tracks steps, sleep and heart rate. It is lightweight and comfy to wear and looks sleek and stylish

What could be improved: Pricey, need to pay for a monthly subscription, takes a little getting used to wearing

Wearable health trackers have come a long way in recent years, and are one of the coolest ways to monitor functions such as your heart rate, sleep quality and activity levels – so we just had to try it out.

Three of our Sun Shopping testers tried it out for a month to see if it was worth the cost – and it's a big thumbs up from us.

Our reviewers loved how easy it was to set up, how quickly you get used to wearing it and the detailed results it gives, and were soon converted from their Apple Watches to the Oura.

It's pricey but if he is interested in monitoring their health, it's one of the smartest pieces of tech on the market and makes a great tech gift.

Mahabis Slippers

32
These cult classics make a great Father's Day giftCredit: Mahabis
  • Classic Slippers, £99 from Mahabis -

Why we love it: Can be worn inside and outdoors, has several different colourways to choose from, is warm and comfy, sustainably produced

What could be improved: Quite expensive, difficult to clean, tricky to find the right size

If you're looking for a gift for a man who values comfort and style, we think a pair of these bestselling will make a thoughtful gift – and we've tried them out before you buy.

We loved the comfy cushioned sole, warm-yet-breathable feel and eco-conscious credentials, with our tester saying they "provide the support and comfort that I normally seek in a trainer" and calling them "a great investment".

Although more expensive than some other options, we think they're the perfect present if he works from home or wants a cool and practical indoor footwear option.

Stanley Quencher

32
The Stanley Quencher Cup has been a sell-out successCredit: HARRIET FLOOK
  • Quencher H2.0 Flowstate Tumbler, £44.99 from Stanley -

Why we love it: Large 1.2L capacity, keeps drinks cold for 11 hours and hot for nine hours, comes in lots of different colours

What could be improved: It is not very easy to transport due to its large size and can leak a little when the straw is in place

We never thought a cup could bring so much joy – until we tried the ourselves.

Priced at around £45, the Stanley Quencher H2.0 Flowstate Tumbler isn't the cheapest travel mug around – but after getting our hands on one, we admit that we've fallen in love with this TikTok-famous bottle.

We love the fashionable design and colours and how easy it is to drink from and found it to be a surefire way to ensure we were drinking our recommended 1.5-2 litres of water a day.

It may not be the most practical for carrying around as it is heavy when full and does leak a little when the straw's in, but it has become an at-home essential for us.

Shokz OpenRun Pro 2

Shokz bone conduction headphones.
32
  • Shockz OpenRun Pro 2, £169.99 from Shockz -

Why we love it: Perfect for all sports due to its open-ear design, charges quickly, comfortable, durable

What could be improved: Bass quality, noise cancellation

If you're looking for a gift for a sports fanatic and music lover, these are perfect.

With Olympic long-distance runner Eliud Kipchoge as the brand ambassador, their properties make them suitable for a range of activities.

Being waterproof, wireless, and lightweight, they're ideal for swimmers, runners, and cyclists who also want to listen to a podcast on the morning commute.

Our reviewer noted "If you've got a runner in the family, the OpenRun Pro 2 is a great gift idea.

"The headphones use bone conducting smarts to keep your ears open to your surroundings, so you're not cut you off from the world. That's vital on busier roads.

"But most importantly, they're incredibly comfortable for long runs and thanks to their durable rubber coating, can take whatever you throw at them."

PerfectDraft Beer Dispenser

perfectdraft-beer-dispenser-best-gifts-for-men
32
A real treat for beer fansCredit: PerfectDraft
  • Beer Dispenser Bundles, from £180 (Was £320) from PerfectDraft -

Why we love it: Looks smart, pours great pints, perfect for parties, easy to set up

What could be improved: Expensive, a bit noisy, could be a little more cost-effective

Being able to pull your pint at home is something many dream of, and we've given the a thorough test (all in the name of research, of course) to see if it delivers on pub-perfect pints.

Our tester found the dispenser and matching keg easy to set up and didn't take up much space – and, most importantly, once pouring began, the beers were "much the same as you’d get with a pub pump".

One downside is that it's not especially cheap, both the upfront cost and the price per pint. Although it is still cheaper than a round at the pub.

If your boyfriend, husband or partner loves a pint or dreams of having an at-home bar, he'd love this as a gift.

Lumin Skincare

32
This men's skincare range comes highly recommendedCredit: Charlie Thomas
  • Skin, hair and body products, from £5 or get a free trial of Lumin's personalised skincare routine -

Why we love it: Lightweight and non-greasy, not strongly scented, makes skin look brighter and more even-toned

What could be improved: Not cheap, the website is tricky to navigate, and you may not need every product in the bundle

Buying skincare for men can be a bit of a minefield, which is why we tried out one popular men's grooming brand – – to see if it delivers results.

Our tester loved the effect that the Lumin products had on his skin, remarking that they made his complexion look brighter and healthier with less redness.

There wasn't one dud product amongst everything he tried.

If your fella is completely new to skincare then the would go down a treat, or top up his existing routine with individual products like Charcoal Face Wash and Daily Face Moisturizer.

Lavazza A Modo Mio Deséa Coffee Machine

lavazza-coffee-machine-best-gifts-for-men
32
A top gift for coffee loversCredit: Lavazza
  • A Modo Mio Desea Coffee Machine, £199 (Was £249) from Lavazza -

Why we love it: Makes great coffee, looks good on your kitchen worktop, makes a wide range of drinks

What could improved: Not compatible with other coffee pods such as Nespresso ones, can make some drinks too hot, has a short power cord

Nowadays there are a lot of home coffee machines on the market but, after testing it for a month, we think the model is a real winner.

When trying this out, we loved the number of different coffees it made, including cappuccinos, lattes and espressos (all of which tasted great), how easy it was to use, and that the drinks work out as slightly more affordable than other makes.

For these reasons, we think coffee lovers would love to receive this.

Why we love it: Lightweight, travel-friendly, cheaper than some others

What could be improved: Nothing

If the man you're buying for does a lot of sports on exercise, he'll find ideal for soothing sore muscles after a workout.

The Power Plate Mini+ scored 5 out of 5 when we tested handheld massagers, with our reviewer finding nothing bad to say about this powerful yet lightweight and travel-friendly bit of equipment.

Our reviewers liked that it was super light, so is good to take on the move or travelling.

It can also be safely controlled with one hand, and our testers particularly liked that the manual included real-life test subjects to show how to use it correctly.

Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser

32
Hotel Chocolat's hot chocolate maker was a hit with our testerCredit: The Sun
  • Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser, £99.95 from Hotel Chocolat -

Why we love it: Makes delicious hot chocolate at home, range of flavours to choose from, and compact

What could be improved: Only works with Hotel Chocolat products, makes one drink at a time, expensive

We've put to the test, and it has quickly become one of our favourite kitchen appliances, especially when the weather's cold or we fancy a little treat.

Okay, so it's not an essential, but when trying it out we were seriously obsessed with how delicious the hot chocolates are that it makes - "rich, creamy, frankly heavenly" is how our tester described them.

It also scored top marks for being easy to use and clean, although at £13 for 10 sachets, it could get expensive to use if your hot chocolate obsession gets out of control.

But if your sweetheart has a sweet tooth, we bet he'll be thrilled to receive this.

Anyone looking for a simple yet effective way to get their skin looking a little fresher should try this.

What could be improved: Expensive, sizing can be tricky to get right

Our reviewer added that it was like a "comforting hug" and made from "super-silky material", so you know they'll be comfortable.

What could be improved: Expensive

  • Sport Shorts, £30 from Gymshark -

Why we love it: Good value, can be worn for all types of exercise, comfy and flexible fit

What could be improved: No fitted pockets specially for phones etc, not the most technical design

We had both male and female testers try these out for running, with one person calling them "one of the best pairs of trail running shorts we tried out" - but they can be worn for all types of exercise.

We particularly like the breathable fabric, mid-thigh length and range of movement they gave.

Why we love it: Tasty coffee, compatible with Nespresso machines, pods are compostable, tins look great

What could be improved: Nothing

Grind's compostable coffee pods are perhaps the trendiest on the market, and if you're wondering if they live up to the hype, our answer is: yes.

We gave them a thorough review, and couldn't find anything bad to say about them.

We loved all the coffees we tried and loved how easy the pods are to recycle and how good the tins look on your kitchen counter.

We think in particular would make the perfect present for men who love their morning brews.

Mindful Chef is more expensive than some alternatives, but in our minds, it is worth it.

Our reviewers liked how Antler's suitcase was incredibly light at just 2.4kg, but still had enough space for a ten-day trip.

They liked the number of compartments and that the suitcase was easy to manoeuvre thanks to 360° wheels.

The Antler Brixham also has a TSA lock and comes with a lifetime warranty and its very own dust bag for storage, which we thought was a lovely touch.

  • The Sub Compact, £125 from Beerwulf -

Why we love it: Pours great pints, range of beers to choose from, looks good in the kitchen

What could be improved: A little noisy, more expensive than buying cans or bottles of beer

The Sub Compact from Beerwulf is another of our best at-home beer dispensers and is slightly cheaper than some other makes.

Our tester thought it was great for the price, looked good in the home and allowed them to try beers that they wouldn't normally.

If you're buying for a beer fan and want something cheaper than, say the PerfectDraft, The Sub is a great option.

We know what you think, but everyone we know who has one of these has loved them.

This window vacuum is the ultimate at-home helper and is one of the most popular reviews on the market.

It's great for windows, cars and showers, and leaves you with sparkling, clean windows and makes quick work of mopping up excess moisture.
