Superdrug’s male fragrance dupes have been created as budget homages to more expensive scents and the price difference, with an aroma similar to popular Chanel Bleu, certainly can’t be sniffed at.

The smell of woody aromatics is good but Superdrug’s dupe is less subtle and more abrasive on the nose.

We'd recommend reapplying it throughout the day and night as it's not as long-lasting, but it's an enjoyable fragrance that shoppers like.

One Superdrug shopper added: 'Very nice lovely cologne for the price. Does not last long but can't complain for the price.'

We tested Lidl Suddenly Lovely Eau de Parfum, which smells like , but is over £90 cheaper.

Pastel pink and pretty these two curvy bottles look distinctly alike on the dressing table, and the contents smell pretty close too.

Lidl’s Lovely is floral, womanly, and long-lasting, just like J’adore which contains white floral notes, rose and ylang-ylang.

After a while on the wrist the supermarket budget pong is less potent, but personally we preferred this and found the stronger, pricier Dior niff cloying.

While the fragrance can't be bought from Lidl's website online, you can find it on eBay and Amazon.

Pros: Beautiful floral notes

Cons: Violet may be too overpowering

We tested M&S Velvet Rose Eau de Toilette, which smells like and is way cheaper with a price difference of over 370.

TikTok has been going crazy for this Eau de Toilette from the M&S fragrance range, with fans claiming it’s a dupe for all-time classic perfume bestseller – Chanel No 5.

The whiffs themselves are in the same scent ballpark, but for me on spraying, there was a distinction between the two.

The M&S floral niff is lovely, with notes of heady rose just like Chanel No 5 - but the high street aroma had more overpowering wafts of violet.

While it may be unavailable, M&S has a wide range of fragrances and has been getting rave reviews from shoppers for its similar floral scent.

We tested Aldi His Reign Eau de Parfum, which smells like .

Even scent connoisseurs would struggle to sniff out any difference between this bargain smell-a-like men’s Eau de Parfum imitation from Aldi and its budget-busting designer mentor, apart from the whopping £288 difference in price.

Both come in stylish silver and black packaging, with Aldi’s classy bottle resembling a sophisticated hip flask.

While the fragrance is no longer available online and in-store at Aldi, you can still track it down on eBay, albeit for a slightly higher price point, at £15.

With that being said, it's still miles cheaper than Creed Aventus so it's still a worthwhile buy.

Cons: Small size

We tested H&M Sunray, which smells like , which is £53.01 more expensive than the high-street perfume.

H&M’s fragrance lasted well and smells far more costly than the price tag suggests, with no lingering chemical niffs.

We tested this in comparison to Bronze Goddess, which is slightly more complex but was impressed with how similar the two are once applied.

We’d happily wear the high street version and pocket the difference in price.

We tested Next No.85 Eau de Toilette, which smells like and is £71 cheaper than the designer fragrance.

Next’s cost-cutting bottle might not be as dazzling but the spicy neroli niff is excellent quality and definitely ‘in the style of’ Paco Rabanne’s blingy best-seller.

Perhaps not as impressive a spritz to unwrap on Christmas Day but if you fancy an everyday alter-native dupe to save some cash this would be a brilliant cologne switch.

Next shoppers love its 'great smell' and say that it's ideal for 'everyday'.

How long does perfume last?

Eau de parfums are more oily, so tend to stick around and linger longer on the skin.

Yes, but it needs to be under 100ml and in a clear plastic bag like other liquids in your hand luggage.

What's the difference between perfume and eau de toilette?

The distinction lies in the concentration of perfume oil. There's 8% – 12% perfume oil in eau de toilette and more like 12% – 18% in eau de parfum.

So generally, you may not need to wear as much perfume because it's not as diluted.
