Womanizer review 2024 UK: We test out the Premium Eco, the world’s first eco-friendly sex toy

THE Womanizer is a first-of-its-kind sex toy from LoveHoney and I was undoubtedly interested in getting my hands on it.

Known for its patented Pleasure Air Technology, which is something I’d never tried but had heard endless praise, I was excited to see whether it would live up to the hype.

The Womanizer Premium Eco launched last year, as the brand’s – and world’s – first plastic-free, fully biodegradable and recyclable sex toy.

It's a new spin on the classic toy and comes off the back of a successful collaboration with popstar Lily Allen in 2020.

If you’re all about orgasming with an eco-conscience and giving some unique technology ago, then this sleek, silent gadget may just be your fighter.

Womanizer review: quick summary

As an overview – this toy works. Everyone’s raving about the touchless simulation Pleasure Air technology for good reason because it replicates the change in pressure that you’d feel if it was the real deal and it’s reasonably quiet if you’re lacking in true privacy at home.

That does come with a downside, though. Because the clitoris needs to be sealed off for the effect to work (it does come with an alternatively sized head so everyone’s covered) if you move it even slightly whilst in use, it can be incredibly intense, almost to the point of being painful.

That doesn’t sound very encouraging but bear with me because if you do keep it still, which is perfectly easy to do because it’s designed to be easily held without getting a tired arm, it works like a dream. And if you take it away from your skin the device stops immediately, using the clever smart silence function which is discreet and useful.

If you were to see the Womanizer Premium Eco, you probably wouldn’t immediately know what it was, because it looks nothing like a traditional sex toy with its smooth, pink design that has a futuristic feel – think any mobile phone-like gadget in any sci-fi film from the last ten years. It’s also rechargeable, and easy to clean although it’s only splashproof so don’t take it with you into the bath or shower.

However, my favourite aspect is that it’s not just a brilliant sex toy, but that Womanizer has pioneered a plastic-free, sustainable stimulator that works as well as, if not better than, other options on the market. Everyone else should be taking note.

Womanizer review: full review

When my postman handed me the Womanizer Premium Eco, he had no idea that he was delivering a sex toy. It came in a normal, unbranded brown box that once opened looked exactly like the packaging of any sustainable beauty product.

The device itself was housed in a recyclable bag so if discreet is top of your list, this hits the mark whilst also making it feel like a classy affair – all pastel colours and no garish pinks like you might see in other branding.

Once I’d opened the box, I saw it came with an alternative head, giving you the choice between a larger or smaller suction area, a charging cable and – lo and behold – a usage manual. It might sound odd to get excited over something so mundane, but the number of toys that don’t come with any kind of instructions of use and care is astounding. This tells you exactly how it should be used and it also explains how to dispose of the device when the time comes. So far, so good.

There are two buttons on the front of the gadget, plus and minus symbols, (which are fairly self-explanatory) but no clear on/off switch. This is where the manual comes in. After leaving it to charge for just half an hour – it wasn’t fully charged but it was enough juice to get it started – I held down the "+" button to turn it on and saw it was ready to go by the solid light on the front. If it starts flashing slowly, it’s time to plug it back in.

12 intensities are ranging from very gentle to very intense so there is something for everyone, and they're all reasonably quiet.

But how does this patented Pleasure Air Technology work? Without getting too far into the nitty gritty, it seals off the clitoris and then constantly changes between creating a vacuum and overpressure, to stimulate blood circulation and create varied sensations.

In the least graphic way possible, the change in pressure does give an impression of the movement of a tongue, so it’s more like the real deal than your standard vibrator.

However, sealing off the clitoris means there's no moving the toy around, even to readjust, otherwise you might find it’s more intense than you bargained for and it may even be painful for a moment.

But that’s also where the smart silence feature comes in. Take the device away from your skin and it goes into standby mode; move it back towards your skin and it picks up right where it left off. It's a feature designed for discreetness, but it's also great if you need to stop immediately but don’t want to click back through the intensities when you get back into it.

A big plus point for this gadget is the way it looks. It doesn’t look "sexy", and I mean that in the best way. Ours came in pastel pink (although some retailers offer other colours, too) which feels welcoming and accessible, and the curved shape of the toy means it’s easy to hold without having to find the right angle or, worse, getting an aching arm or wrist.

It’s made entirely from eco-friendly Biolene (which is mainly cornstarch) and the material is smooth and easy to clean, which is a must after every use. But no taking it in the bath or shower because it’s only splashproof, not waterproof.

Let’s talk more about the sustainable side of this device. Sex toys generally use a lot of plastic and batteries which creates a lot of waste. 20,000 tonnes of batteries go to landfill every year. The Womanizer Premium Eco is rechargeable, which isn’t groundbreaking in itself, but the toy does it in style, with a magnetic pin USB cable.

As I mentioned before, it’s made entirely from Biolene and is plastic-free, recyclable and biodegradable – the first in the world of its kind. Plus, with every purchase, One Tree Planted will plant a tree. This may not have anything to do with the toy’s performance (which is excellent) but it is a groundbreaking step forward in showing that sex toys can be eco-friendly.

How much does the Womanizer Premium Eco cost?

The Womanizer Premium Eco is expensive at £139, which is significantly more than a direct competitor like the which costs £25 on Amazon. But it's currently reduced to less than £100 on LoveHoney, making it the perfect time to snag one up.

It does offer an experience that other clitoral simulators can’t because of its technology and design. Of course, you could buy a bullet vibrator for a tenner on the high street and still orgasm but, as someone who’s tried both, I’d choose the Womanizer every time.

Where to buy the Womanizer Premium Eco?

Several online destinations are selling the Premium Eco, including online mammoth usual sex toy suspects like and and

You can also find it on and also , if you want to pick up other shopping on the side.

How does the Womanizer compare?

The most talked about competitor to the Womanizer is the because it's so much less expensive at under £60.

Although it's over £100 cheaper, it doesn't have access to the technology that makes the Womanizer so great.

Both have 12 intensity settings but there is a key difference in the physical make of each. The Womanizer is smooth, eco-friendly and vegan while, although still comfortable to use, the Satisfyer's body is made from plastic.

Womanizer review: the verdict

It’s two big thumbs up from me. I can’t think of many downsides to this device, because fundamentally, it really works. It’s quiet, easy to use, rechargeable, and as sleek as a sex toy can be and the Pleasure Air technology does give a different kind of sensation to standard vibrations.

And, best of all, it’s leading the way in how sex toys can be environmentally friendly, plastic-free and still give very good results. I’m sold.
