Princess Charlotte sends Diana fans wild by doing late grandmother’s iconic ‘Spencer stare’ at Kate’s Christmas concert

It wasn't the only way Charlotte channelled Diana on Friday

PRINCESS Charlotte may one day be given some of Princess Diana’s jewellery - but royal fans are saying she’s already inherited her “Spencer stare.”

The nine-year-old royal was seen on Friday at mum Princess Kate’s Together at Christmas carol concert, where she channelled the striking look.

Princess Charlotte was seen with piercing eyes and she stared down a photographer, in a similar fashion to how Princess Diana did at public events.

The adorable moment didn’t go unnoticed by eagle-eyed fans who hailed the young princess as a “mini-me” of Diana’s.

One fan shared a side-by-side comparison, while another added “striking resemblance.”

Another added: "Aw those eyes are the same for Diana and Charlotte".

A third labelled it: "The iconic side-eye!"

However, other royal fans thought Princess Charlotte - joined her brothers, Prince George, 11, and Prince Louis, six at the carol concert - more resembles the late Queen Elizabeth II.

One wrote: “She looks like her great grandmother the Queen Elizabeth.”

Meanwhile, one pointed out: “If you look at Michael Middleton’s profile, you can see Princess Charlotte.”

Charlotte's name tribute

When the Prince and Princess of Wales were deciding on a name for their daughter, they wanted to honour Diana, who tragically died in 1997 in a car crash when William was 15.

After Charlotte was born in May 2015 they decided to use Diana for her middle name.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry also chose Diana for a middle name for Princess Lilibet, who was born in 2021.

Speaking of his late mother, William said in the 2017 HBO documentary Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy: “We’ve got more photos up around the house of her, and we talk about her a bit and stuff.

“And it’s hard because obviously Catherine didn’t know her, so she cannot really provide that level of detail.

“So I do regularly, putting George and Charlotte to bed, talk about her, and just try to remind them that there are two grandmothers — there were two grandmothers in their lives.

“And it’s important they know who she was and that she existed.”

At the Christmas concert on Friday, Princess Charlotte looked adorable in a gorgeous maroon coat, which was paired with navy tights and dark Mary Jane shoes.

Charlotte styled her hair in her signature half up-do which was finished with a bow.

Charlotte's 'Diana stance'

Aside from her “Spencer stare”, fans also noticed the way the young royal stood.

Viewers noticed that the youngster’s stance may have also been a subtle nod to Diana - as she stood confidently in a ballet pose.

Writing on X, one user penned: "Princess Charlotte standing in her ballet position."

A second one added: "Princess Charlotte is really standing in her ballet pose."

Whilst a third one said: "Look at Charlotte’s ballet stance."

It’s known that Charlotte is a ballet fan and has reportedly been taking weekly private ballet lessons at a dance school in south London.

Her proud mum Kate, who this year has been battling cancer, is also known to have taken her daughter to watch The Nutcracker at the Royal Opera House in central London.

The poignant meaning behind Princess Charlotte's name

PRINCESS Charlotte was born on May 2, 2015, at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, and we’ve seen her grow into a sweet “mini-me” of mum, Kate.

She was brought into the world in the infamous Lindo Wing, and weighed 8lbs 3oz.

Her full name - Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Wales - has some very sentimental ties.

Her middle names are those of both her late grandmother, Princess Diana, and her late great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II.

She was even surprised last night when ballet dancers performed right in front of her during the festive service - a secret Prince Louis had been keeping for weeks, according to the Princess of Wales, 42.

The young royal’s love of dance is a passion that links her with her late grandmother and is something that the late Princess Diana would no doubt be happy about - as she adored it too.

Diana aspired to be a professional ballerina in her younger years and went on to become patron of the English National Ballet.

She enjoyed dancing so much that she even put on a surprise display at London's Royal Opera House.

In December 1985, Charles and Diana attended a gala performance at the storied venue.

And much to the amazement of the audience, midway through the performance, the Princess quietly left her seat in the Royal Box to grace the stage with dancer Wayne Sleep.

They danced to Billy Joel's Uptown Girl, which was Diana's song choice.
