Harry attended The New York Times' DealBook Summit while Meg beamed on the red carpet in Beverly Hills some thousands of miles away.

On stage in NYC, Harry addressed why he and Meghan aren't often seen professionally together, which fuels split gossip.

Speaking to NYT Columnist Andrew Ross Sorkin, the royal quipped: "Because you invited me, you should have known."

He also laughed off divorce rumours, adding: "Apparently we've bought or moved house 10, 12 times.

"We've apparently divorced maybe 10, 12 times as well. So it's just like, what?"

But what Harry thought was him putting rumours to bed, actually highlighted his inner turmoil - after a life of speculation - claims a royal expert.

Thanks to her marrying Prince Harry… She's got much more of an identity

Hugo Vickers told The Sun: "He said that all the pundits must be very disappointed, and he felt sorry for them that none of these things actually happened.

"What else can he say? He must be roundly fed up with all the kind of speculation that's been going on over his whole life, ever since he was a little boy, so in that respect I sympathise with him."

The royal author added the Sussexes are better off doing their own thing because they don't thrive stood next to each other - and Meghan wants to make her own name.

He said: "Harry's much better when he's on his own talking about things without her there.

"And perhaps she's better on doing what she does without him there, because he always looks a little bit spare.

"You could suggest that she's making a move to be an independent person in her own right, I mean, we know who she is now, thanks to her marrying Prince Harry… She's got much more of an identity."

'STRATEGY TO KEEP IN PUBLIC EYE'

However, their solo appearances could be a tactic to keep themselves relevant and is "thought out" to avoid tension in the Sussex camp, Hugo added.

He said: "They're always playing to their particular skills. They're also always having to reinvent themselves.

"They're always having to try and keep focused in the public eye.

"And so if this is a strategy that he will do things on his own, and she will do things on her own, then you can be fairly certain that it's been well thought out by them, and that there wouldn't be any particular tension involved."

On Wednesday, Harry also insisted he "very much" enjoys his life in the States, adding his focus now was on "being the best husband and the best dad that I can be".

He said: "I very much enjoy living here and bringing up my kids here."

There are activities he can do with his children that he "undoubtedly wouldn’t be able to do in the UK", he said, citing concerns about security.

Harry is continuing to press ahead with a legal battle against the Home Office over his taxpayer-funded security to ensure his family's safety.

And with that in mind, he and Meghan have no plans to leave the US anytime soon.

ARCHEWELL FOUNDATION LATEST WORK

It comes just days after the pair put on a united front in a glitzy new behind the scenes video.

The clip was released alongside an Impact Report revealing philanthropic work carried out by the Archewell Foundation.

The one-minute video showcased unseen footage of the couple at public and private engagements over the past year.

Cold Play's Sky Full of Stars was played over the top of different clips including Meghan cooking with other women for The Welcome Project.

It also highlighted moments from their Nigeria and Colombia tours as well as their trip to Canada for the Invictus Games One Year to Go countdown.

Clips showed Meghan's panel appearance at the SXSW Conference in Austin, Texas on International Women's Day.

Other scenes featured Harry's speech at the Clinton Global Initiative in New York City to raise awareness about protecting children from online harm.

Prince Harry laughs off divorce rumours

PRINCE Harry laughed as he broke his silence over rumours he and Meghan Markle are heading for divorce.

Speaking during The New York Times' DealBook Summit without Meghan, the King's youngest son said he "very much" enjoys his life in the States.

Laughing off the speculation, Harry said: "Apparently we've bought or moved house 10, 12 times.

"We've apparently divorced maybe 10, 12 times as well. So it's just like, what?"

Addressing why he and Meghan aren't often seen professionally together, which fuels split gossip, the royal quipped to a journalist: "Because you invited me, you should have known," to the crowd's delight, reports the Mirror.

At the event, Harry said his focus now was on "being the best husband and the best dad that I can be".

He said: "I very much enjoy living here and bringing up my kids here."

The Duke went on to tell NYT columnist and event founder Andrew Ross Sorkin he opposes a social media ban for children because it could lead to family arguments and bullying by classmates.

Instead, he said such companies should be subject to greater transparency and accountability.

He said social media has “already been intentionally created to be addictive” so banning it or removing it, “creates all sort of problems”.

Harry said he doesn't have his own social media accounts to help protect his peace.

"I try to think at these things through the lens as a dad," he said.

"It's not a coincidence that the world has become more volatile and more divided since social media has been around for 20 years," Harry added.
