PRINCE William meets Team GB swimmers, saying he dodged the Paris Games to avoid giving wife Kate Covid.

Wills met Olympians Adam Peaty and Tom Dean with Paralympians Maisie Summers-Newton and Louise Fiddes at a pool in Birtley, Tyne and Wear.

The Prince also spoke to Tom about his recent departure from Strictly Come Dancing.

Speaking afterwards Tom said: "Robbery was the word he used, very kind of him,."

Wills said his wife Catherine was a ‘big fan’ of the show, he added.

Palace aides added that swimming was going to be a big focus of the Foundation going forward.

It came just hours after he was pictured on his feet as supersub Jhon Duran netted the winner at Villa Park repeating the scoreline against the Germans in the 1982 European Cup final.

William said after the match: "I've lost my voice… I can't quite believe it. 42 years."

It is understood he was still gushing to pals about the Champions League win hailing the 'electric' atmosphere.

William was overheard telling people his voice was still a bit hoarse from all the shouting.
