IT is so typical of the King that his first engagement while recovering from cancer is to highlight the importance of getting diagnosed.

The warmth of the crowd waiting for him outside the Macmillan Cancer Centre at University College Hospital shows how much people have missed him.

I know that although he has been working on his red boxes of state since his operation back in January, he has desperately missed people.

The crowds will be a real tonic to his recovery.

Once he gets the all clear from his doctors, I’m sure he will start to cram his diary with the appointments he has missed over the past few months.
