Meghan Markle ‘snubbed by Vogue’, fans say after she’s noticeably absent from pal editor Edward Enninful’s final cover

Meghan and Harry are set to make a major joint appearance next week

ROYAL fans have claimed Meghan Markle was “snubbed by Vogue” after she didn’t appear on pal Edward Enninful’s final cover.

The Duchess of Sussex was noticeably absent from the impressive shoot, featuring 40 “of the most booked and blessed women on earth”.

The legendary Vogue cover did not feature Meghan Markle

Meghan’s friends including Ophra, Serena Williams, and Jameela Jamil all appeared in the glamorous picture marking the March 2024 edition.

They sit alongside a host of famous names including Naomi Campbell, Victoria Beckham, Cindy Crawford, Jane Fonda, Miley Cyrus, Kate Moss, Karlie Kloss, Gigi Hadid, Gemma Chan, and Selma Blair.

But Meghan – who became pals with Enninful while guest editing the glossy mag in 2019 – was no where to be seen.

Eagle-eyed readers spotted the duchess, 42, was missing and one commented: “Meghan wasn’t on the cover of vogue.

“Her issue that she did was featuring powerful and inspiring women around the world. eight of those women are actually on this.”

Endgame author Omid Scobie even penned “what a cover”, to which someone replied “was your bestie #MeghanMarkIe busy that day?”

Another wrote: “Now why did Meghan Markle deny us a vogue cover because I know that guy called her.”

However, an unimpressed user pointed out: “They clearly say everyone, every single one, invited accepted the offer.”

Vogue captioned , on X/formerly Twitter: “After six and a half years and 153 cover stars behold #EdwardEnninful’s final edition of #BritishVogue.

“When the idea for the cover was ignited, there was only one question: would 40 of the most booked and blessed women on earth actually make it to one studio in Manhattan, on one day in December?

“Spoiler alert: they came. Because who else could get 40 of the greatest talents from fashion, Hollywood and beyond in one room for a show of unity but Edward?”

It came as a shock Meg wasn’t featured after she became close with Enninful while guest editing the September 2019 issue.

She left herself off the cover over fears she’d look “boastful” and chose to instead focus on 15 women who “break barriers”.

At the time, Enninful spoke of the duchess’ decision and said: “From the very beginning, we talked about the cover – whether she would be on it or not. In the end, she felt that it would be in some ways a ‘boastful’ thing to do for this particular project.

“She wanted, instead, to focus on the women she admires.”

SUPPORTIVE PAL

He also previously stood by Harry and Meghan amid their bombshell Oprah interview in 2021.

Enniful was one of 15 Conde Nast employees who watched the sensational conversation air live in the United States via a video link from their homes in the UK.

Enniful was in “constant contact” with Meghan using WhatsApp as he watched the duchess’s chat with Oprah, the  reported.

A source close told the paper: “There were around 15 people on the Zoom, all top Conde Nast people.

“They felt it was important from an editorial perspective that they got together to watch it.”

Their friendship left fans surprised at her absence from the editor’s final cover.

‘SILENT EXASPERATION’

However, royal biographer Tom Bower previously claimed in his book Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the War between the Windsors, that Meghan and Enninful feuded during the creation of Vogue’s September 2019 issue.

Staff were described as being left in “silent exasperation” at Meghan and her demands.

It claimed the duchess proposed poor ideas, and accused her of being difficult to approach with opposing suggestions.

Bower also wrote that Enninful and Meghan had a difference of opinion on how to market the edition – as the former actress wished to leak snippets online before its release, while the editor thought secrecy was best.

Meghan even asked if the magazine could hit the shelves in the US before the UK, according to the book, which ruffled feathers with head of communications, Sara Latham.

More recently rumours the duchess may be difficult to work with were also sparked after the manager of their Archewell Productions TV and film company walked out.

Bennett Levine – who worked on the flop Netflix docuseries Harry and Meghan – confirmed he was quitting, less than two years in the role.

Enninful was appointed as British Vogue’s first male editor in 2017 after being given an OBE in 2016 by the Queen for services to diversity in the fashion industry.

Born in Ghana, he moved to the UK as a boy and started his fashion career aged 16 when he was scouted as a model on a train.

He also became a global ambassador of the Prince’s Trust in 2021.

Edward Enninful was contacted for comment.

UPCOMING APPEARANCE

It comes as Meghan and Harry are set to make a major joint appearance next week.

The duke, 39, jetted to the UK this week to be by his father’s side following his shock cancer diagnosis.

While Meghan stayed behind in California with their children Archie and Lilibet.

Prince Harry flew 5,000 miles from Los Angeles to London on Tuesday and saw King Charles for a 30-minute chat.

The meeting between Harry and Charles, without the Duchess of Sussex and their children, raised hopes they will be reconciled despite their troubled relationship.

It was the first time he and Charles had met in private since Queen Elizabeth II died in September 2022.

Now royal fans are expected to see Meghan and Harry next week, as they take part in a three-day event that is very close to their hearts.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will spend Valentine’s Day in Canada to join the One Year to Go festivities ahead of the 2025’s Invictus Games.

The Vancouver Whistler games – which are due to take place between February 8 – 16, 2025 – are to be the first winter sporting event in Invictus history.
