AFTER 13 days of being in hospital, last week Kate Middleton was discharged.

While we saw Prince William, 41, visit the Princess of Wales, 42, every day during her 13-day stay at the private London Clinic in Marylebone, central London, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis were notably absent.

It comes after Kate had an abdominal surgery on January 16.

Now, a royal expert has speculated on the reason why the royal children didn't visit their mum while she was in hospital for two weeks.

Instead of visiting, the kids connected with Kate via Facetime calls - but royal biographer Ingrid Seward thinks there's a healthy reason for this.

Ingrid told : "I don't think she wanted to make more of a big thing of it than it already was.

"They’ll be rallying 'round in their own way and helping to look after her."

The children were all understood to have been at school throughout Kate's time in hospital.

While it likely will have been a personal choice, children are also generally not allowed to visit the London Clinic without permission from the hospital for the safety of the patients.

Not only this, but children are also generally not encouraged to visit in the attempt to keep infections at bay.

The website stipulates: "Any special requests for children to visit must be approved by the Matrons.

“If approved, children must be accompanied by a responsible adult who will look after them throughout the visit."

Last Monday, Princess Kate was discharged from the hospital and returned home to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor where she will have been reunited with her three children.

Kensington Palace said: "The Princess of Wales has returned home to Windsor to continue her recovery from surgery. She is making good progress.

“The prince and princess wish to say a huge thank you to the entire team at The London Clinic, especially the dedicated nursing staff, for the care they have provided.

“The Wales family continues to be grateful for the well wishes they have received from around the world."

WORK FROM BED

The palace has not disclosed specifics about the nature of Princess Kate’s condition, but it is known to be non-cancerous.

No10 say the Princess of Wales being discharged from hospital is "welcome news for the Royal Family and the public more widely".

Sources claimed at the weekend that Kate's commitment to her royal duties will see her get back into work as soon as she can.

She is said to have plans to work from bed now she has arrived home.

Kate’s hospital trip was revealed the same day Buckingham Palace said King Charles would be admitted to the same hospital for surgery.

The Monarch had a "corrective procedure" for an "enlarged prostate" last week.

Charles was spotted driving his Audi at the weekend after cancelling engagements for the surgery.
