PIPPA Middleton has divided opinion after reportedly gifting her nephew Prince George a "creepy" Christening gift - and it set her back a whopping £7,000.

From toys and blankets, to cherished keepsakes, it can be hard enough trying to decide on a christening present for the average baby - let alone when he's the future king.

But mum-of-three Pippa Middleton, who is Kate Middleton's sister, thought of something a little outside the box - and decided to splash the cash on a bespoke silver keepsake of his hands and feet, which cost an estimated £7k.

While some have branded the mould rather creepy, the socialite clearly thought it'd be the perfect gift, and got them made by a small London-based company called Wrightson and Platt.

Despite the hefty price tag, the moulds would've taken just 30 seconds to make and come complete with personalised engravings.

Prince George, who was christened at the Chapel Royal in St James’s Palace on October 23, 2013 in London aged three-months-old, would likely have had his hands and feet placed in an organic mixture comprised of water and a seaweed-based powder.

The company's website notes that the baby's limbs are "life cast in silver" and are "a perfect keepsake to preserve precious memories in the finest materials."

While a set of bronze hands and feet cost £1,900, customers can expect to pay anything from £6,200 for a solid silver casting - although it's subject to change depending on the child's size and the requested engravings.

It's thought that Pippa could've come up with the idea for Prince George after delving into the family tree.

According to The Royal Collection Trust, the young royal's ancestor Queen Victoria commissioned sculptor Mary Thorneycroft to carve her nine infant's forearms and feet in the mid 1880s.

Each carving was based on a plaster cast made from moulds taken while the children were asleep.

However, reports that a spokesman for Clarence House could not confirm or deny that the casts were gifted to Prince George by Pippa.

He commented: ‘If such a gift exists it would be a private gift and not be something we would be aware of.’

Elsewhere, Cabinet members took a more traditional approach and presented the future king, now 10, with a £400 hand-crafted pine toy box.

Meanwhile, Prince Charles, who is the young royal's grandfather, launched a selection of baby gifts courtesy of his Highgrove label, with any sale profits going to the Prince of Wales’s Charitable Foundation.
