The row has erupted after calims in a new biography: .

Author Robert Hardman said a member of the late Queen's staff revealed that she was "as angry as I'd ever seen her" when the Duke and Duchess publicly said that they would not have used her private family nickname if she hadn't been "supportive."

BBC royal correspondent, Jonny Dymond, claimed hearing from a "Palace insider" that the Queen was "never asked" by Harry and Meghan about her childhood nickname.

Dymond said his source "disputed" reports that Harry and Meghan had talked to the Queen to get her approval before announcing the name.

But the Sussexes' spokesman was quick to reject the allegation, insisting that the Queen was the first family member Harry contacted with the joyful news of his long-awaited daughter's birth.

He said that during their conversation "he shared their hope of naming their daughter Lilibet in her honour. Had she not been supportive, they would not have used the name".

Filled with explosive claims, the book also says Prince William was left enraged after Harry's "blatant attack" against Kate in his Netflix documentary with Meghan.

The Duke of Sussex claimed there was a "temptation or urge" for royal men to marry someone who “would fit the mould” in his explosive Netflix documentary.

In the Netflix series, Harry said: "I think for so many people in the family, especially the men, there could be a temptation or an urge to marry someone who would fit the mould as opposed to someone you are destined to be with.

"The difference between making a decision with your head or your heart."

But his comments - which could be perceived as a jibe at his brother's wife Princess Kate - reportedly left Wills fuming.

The astonishing biography includes new testimonies of royal staff, friends and senior politicians.

The Queen's most senior staff member Sir Edward Young describes the moment of her death saying she "slipped away" and "wasn't aware of anything".

The real reason Princess Kate didn't go to Balmoral to see the Queen before she died was also said to be revealed in the bombshell book.

Hardman on Camilla: latest revelations

In the latest instalment of the King's drama-filled biography, Robert Hardman reveals an intimate portrait of Camilla, including the cheeky reason her family has nicknamed her "Lorraine".

She was given the nickname even before she became Queen.

The play on the French name for Queen, La Reine, delighted the then-Duchess of Cornwall but not the then-Prince of Wales, now King, the reported.

In his bombshell book, Hardman said a friend of Camilla's told him: “She always saw the funny side of that – even if Prince Charles did not.”

The debate about Camilla's title when Charles became King lasted nearly two decades.

Before Charles and Camilla married in 2005, royal advisers believed Camilla did not want to be Queen and "intended" to be known as Princess Consort instead, a term never used before in British history, even though she would still have been the Queen legally.

Hardman also went on to reveal how her grandchildren call her "Ga-Ga" as he shares a intimate accounts about a woman who "knows when to wink at a bishop", hits the King with her handbag, and dances at Abba concerts.
