Prince Harry’s Invictus Games thrown into ‘chaos’ after TWO top chiefs suddenly leave with morale ‘at all time low’
Staff said Harry and Meghan's 'troubles' have been a distraction
PRINCE Harry’s Invictus Games have been thrown into chaos after two top chiefs suddenly left – with morale “at an all time low”.
CEO Peter Lawless and Chief Commercial Officer Bill Cooper have made a shock exit from the team planning the next round of the Games in Canada.
Nick Booth, one of Harry’s most trusted aides, has now stepped in as interim CEO of Vancouver and Whistler 2025.
There is just over a year to go before the Games, which will feature winter sports for the first time.
But an insider said preparations are in “chaos” after Lawless and Cooper were “dismissed for no apparent reason”.
They told the : “The changes have unsettled staff, especially after two such well-liked bosses left.
“This is a significant setback with just over a year to deliver the Games.
“I’m told they are well over budget and no plan to close the gap even after securing $30million in government support.
“Morale among the staff and volunteers is at an all-time low.
“Prince Harry and his wife have become a significant distraction with all their troubles. Enough already.”
Booth helped Harry set up the Invictus Games for injured veterans from around the world.
He also ran The Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry from 2010 to 2017.
The princes’ foundation was broken up after William and Kate fell out with Harry and Meghan.
Archewell has been contacted for comment.
An Invictus spokesman told The Sun: “The entire team behind the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 is focused and diligently working to host an incredible Games in February 2025, welcoming up to 550 competitors from up to 25 Nations.
“Nick Booth has stepped in as interim CEO in support of our strong local team led by our Vancouver-based Deputy CEO and Chief Operating Officer.
“Since the award of the bid for the 2025 Games, Nick has been advising the team.
“This transition allowed for a continuity of vision and no disruption to the team working to deliver the Games.
“We can confirm that Peter Lawless and Bill Cooper are no longer employees of Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025.
“We thank them for their efforts to bring the Games back to Canada.
“We are delighted that Peter will continue to support the Vancouver Whistler 2025 Games as an Ambassador and CEO Emeritus.
“There are no budgetary issues relating to the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025.
“The organisation is on track to meet its fundraising targets, thanks to a dedicated network of senior volunteers and our government partners.”
