What is King Charles given at the coronation?

Rehearsals for the upcoming Coronation are getting underway up and down the country.

Besides all the walking and kneeling Charles will have to do, he'll be given symbolic items and possibly a gift as well.

Will King Charles get a gift at the coronation?

So far King Charles has received two impressive gifts in the lead up to his Coronation.

The Australian administration gifted the King a donation of 10,000 AUSD to the friends of the Western Ground Parrot.

This donation is to help conserve the critically endangered species in honour of the Monarch.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said he was pleased to gift the King this donation as "His Majesty King Charles III has long championed conservation and sustainability."

Charles has also received a gift from the Vatican in celebration of his Coronation.

The Pope gifted Charles two bits of wood that are believed to be part of the cross Jesus was crucified upon.

These wood pieces will be incorporated into a larger crucifix that will be used in the Coronation ceremony.

It is uncertain whether King Charles will be given a gift during the actual Coronation ceremonies, so we will have to wait and see!

Is King Charles given a bible at the coronation?

Oxford University Press (OUP) has been commissioned by the Archbishop of Canterbury to produce the King James Bible to be used in the king's coronation at Westminster Abbey on May 6, 2023.

The Bible will play an integral part in the Coronation as Charles will place his hand upon it when he gives his Coronation Oath.

Only four copies of this Bible will be made and one is reported to be gifted to the King.

Nigel Portwood, chief executive of Oxford University Press, said: "We are confident that it will be a fitting tribute to a momentous occasion in British history and we hope it will be cherished by His Majesty for many years to come."

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, said: "On this momentous occasion, the bible will be the first, and most important, gift offered to the king.

Is King Charles given gold at the coronation?

A special and momentous occasion calls for a gesture of a similar magnitude.

A one-eight sovereign has been designed and made to honour Charles' Coronation.

Designed by Matt Dent, designer of Britain's circulating one-penny to fifty-pence coins. This is the first one-eighth sovereign in King Charles III's reign.

While Charles is the ninth Monarch that a modern sovereign coin has been produced, he is the first to have his Coronation marked by a one-eight sovereign with a special commemorative design.

The newly dubbed 'Coronation Emblem', was created specifically for Charles and will be the first of its kind.
