What time are the gun salutes and church bells ringing for the Queen’s funeral?

QUEEN ELIZABETH II sadly passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2022.

The funeral service will begin at 11am on Monday, September 19, 2022 in Westminster Abbey, where the doors will open at 8am for members of the congregation to take their seats.

What time is the gun salute for the Queen?

After the funeral, the Queen's coffin will be transported to Wellington Arch.

Royal Parks tweeted: "To mark the procession of Her Majesty The Queen’s coffin from the State Funeral at Westminster Abbey to Wellington Arch, a Royal Gun Salute will take place in Hyde Park on Monday 19 September."

The guns at Wellington Arch will be fired by the King's Troop at 12.15pm.

They will fire one round to mark each minute of the length of the procession.

After, the Queen's coffin will be moved into the state hearse and it will leave with a royal salute and the playing of the national anthem.

It will travel to Windsor and join a procession from Albert Road through to the Long Walk to Windsor Castle.

Gun salutes are taking place across the Commonwealth, including Canada and Malta.

The Queen was Britain's longest reigning monarch, having been on the throne for 70 years when she passed away at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

  • Gibraltar - The Royal Gibraltar Regiment
  • London, Hyde Park - The King’s Troop, Royal Horse Artillery
  • London, HM Tower of London - The Honourable Artillery Company
  • Larkhill (Stonehenge) - 14th Regiment Royal Artillery
  • Her Majesty’s Naval Base Devonport
  • Her Majesty’s Naval Base Portsmouth
  • York - 4th Regiment Royal Artillery

The gun salute will be available to watch on news channels such as the BBC and ITV News.

The TV channels will broadcast a special programme to show the Queen's funeral and the ceremonies following it.

News channels have rolling coverage on the Queen's death and usual scheduling has been suspended.
